The friends writers had two main relationships in the show and accidentally wrote them to be the inverse of each other and itās is hilarious
-Ross pining after Rachel since high school vs Chandler and Monica hating each others guts when they first met
-Ross being a golden child and Rachel being popular in school vs Chandler being ignored by his parents and Monica being picked on by everyone
-Ross and Rachel getting together being this big huge dramatic moment vs Chandler and Monica getting together being written as a joke
-Ross and Rachel having every single piece of relationship drama being public knowledge with their friends vs Chandler and Monica hiding their relationship for months
-Ross being furious Rachel has to work on their anniversary, doesnāt listen to her and comes to her office (which leads to the fight that ended their relationship) vs Chandler causally saying āoh Monica had to work Valentineās Day so weāre celebrating tonightā
-Ross and Rachel getting married in Vegas because theyāre drunk vs Chandler and Monica almost getting married in Vegas because theyāre in love
-Ross accidentally getting Rachel pregnant when they werenāt even dating vs Chandler and Monica having fertility problems when theyāre married and trying for kids
-Ross and Rachel arguing for years about if they were on a break vs Chandler and Monica not having any fights lasting more than an episode
Putting them side by side really just shows the extent of Ross & Rachelās toxicity togetherā they should not have been endgame
Anyway, itās just crazy to think that they had so much in common and yet could not be more different. Ross and Rachel on their own are good characters (Ross less so) but together itās like they bring out the absolute worst in eachother
Honestly, itās pretty good writing because it goes very well with their characterās personality type for them to act the way that they did and break up the way that they did.
Ross only tries to work on his marriages when they are about to fail because he doesnāt want to get divorcedā itās never about ābut I love herā, itās āI CANāT GET DIVORCED FOR THE X TIMEā
Iām at the part where Emily puts the ultimatum that if he wants to fix things with her he needs to stop being around Rachel (which is insane but thatās a thought for a different post), and he says he ācanāt divorced a second timeā. I donāt even think they like each other that much anymore tbh. He just messed up too big to fix it.
Maybe I just enjoy the show and give up on my fanfic dreams ā¤ļøāš©¹ Actually, Iām thinking all of my Friends fic ideas are actually gonna go to other ficsā I have several ideas that could work outside of this fandom
Thinking about the friends flashback episode, and how it teased future relationships among the main characters, and how most of those situations were sexual (Ross and Phoebe making out after Ross finds out about Carol, Chandler hitting on Rachel in the bar/Rachel fantasizing about him later, Joey coming on to Monica) and funnyā¦
and then you have Chandler and Monica. Sheās upset, he comforts her. Sheās comfortable enough to hug him while only wearing a towel, he uncharacteristically doesnāt crack any jokes until the end of the interaction, after heās cheered her up.
It was different than the others, because there wasnāt anything sexual about the encounter. It was just pure friendly affection.
And they were the ones that ended up together

Their friendship went into a relationship so naturally! Even the way they finally got together, though it was in āthe spur of the momentā it was so natural!! Theirs is the only relationship in the entire series that felt that way for me (absolutely perfect) ā¤ļøāš©¹ā¤ļøāš©¹
I wish we got more of the AU episode of friends, I literally would watch the whole series again just for that episode, Chandler and Monica are just so cute omg

The One Where Everything Changes || Joey x Rachel
AU where Rachel and Joey are endgameā and they get pregnant instead
Summary: Rachel moves in with Joey while she finds another place to live after Monica and Chandler get married. As the days pass, they get closer and closer. At first they both try to ignore the feelings growing between them but then one rainy evening, everything changes.
A/N: I borrow a ton from canon (they had such good joey x rachel material ughhh) but I also add my own twist and headcanonsā I just think Joey and Rachel should have ended up together so I am taking matters into my own hands š¤
