"What's a butt for?"

I know i haven't posted for 2 years because I haven't watched RTAH for 2 years. But this is insane.

Anyways this account will be abandoned for good now.

The sad reality of this is that we, as fans, as a community, as the audience, are just that.  We don’t know Ryan Haywood.  So as hard hitting as it is for us, I can only imagine how hard it is for the victims, the members of AH, his friends and family.  They’re the people directly in this because they actually know him in real life and not just as an online personality.

I’m not saying that your feelings are invalid if this hits hard for you, of course your feelings matter.  Cry if you must, scream if you must, take time to heal if you must.

What I am saying is that we’ve seen things like this happened many times now, outside of AH, RT and even Youtube and it will continue to happen.  I just want everyone to remember that you don’t know the people behind the screen, that there are just as many bad people as there are good.  If someone you look up to approach you and make you uncomfortable or put you into a situation you don’t want to be in, please don’t hesitate to speak up.  Don’t be star-struck; a little bit of doubt goes a long way.

As for me, I watched AH on and off a year or so before Ryan and only started watching daily after Minecraft episode 24.  I love the AH members old and new, they’ve gotten me through tough times.  Ryan was always my favorite member and truth be told, if this situation were to happen a few years ago, I would’ve reacted very differently than I did.  I was surprise that my reaction went from disgusted to disappointed but ultimately I am not devastated.  I more so felt bad for everyone directly affected by this and people who actually knew him and I hope them the very best.

Joel has done some pretty shitty things in the past which is why I unfollowed him a while ago, choosing to not keep up with his tweets.  I figured that what will happen between Joel and RoosterTeeth is more or less company business. 

But recently, I think the straw that broke the camel’s back was that during the beginning of the Black Lives Matter protests.  While a lot of RT employees were tweeting support and ways to help, Joel tweeted some pretty insensitive things that did nothing to help the movement, i.e. the looting, destroying of businesses, etc.  You can condemn the looters while still supporting the message behind the BLM movement, but Joel’s tweets framed it as though the protests and the movement were overall bad because of the looting, etc.  When I was scrolling through his tweets, that was the feel I got from it.

A lot of his tweets, joking or not, rubs me the wrong way.  I know that Joel has a pretty interesting sense of humor but using the excuse of “it’s just a joke” or “that’s just my humor” is a pretty weak way to disguise shitty opinions; likewise, is also a weak way to defend him because it’s “just his sense of humor”.  

To reply to “He help start Rooster Teeth you cunt” without my sarcasm, no one said that he didn’t help start RoosterTeeth.  Joel Heyman is one of the founding fathers of RoosterTeeth, he’s the iconic voice of Caboose, he’s a pretty decent actor and he does have good comedic timing.  Credit where credit is due, he is part of RoosterTeeth history.  But that should not shield him from any criticism that is thrown his way and that should not excuse any of his shitty behavior.  Just as he is allow to tweet what he wants, people should be able to call him out.  He should not be safe from consequences due to his actions just because he’s part of RT history.     

Here is a link to a reddit post that have a lot more information in the comments about the things that he has done.  There are also people making points of defending him, some points make sense, some are reaching a bit but I do implore anyone who’s reading this to go, read through those and come up with your own conclusion on Joel.  

also kind of an update but I’m going to slowly try and revive this blog.  I do this thing where I fall in and out of AH (I watch them consistently but I just go through phases where I'm not as super invested).  but now I'm back so just watch for some new icons and stuff coming soon.
