Being queer is really a journey, and I’ve gone through so many labels from when I first started questioning my sexuality to now. I have been so many genders I can’t even remember my journey in full even though it’s still not over. I’m still proud of my progress and glad I can find a community where I can really just exist without worrying about anything, and being do close to getting a binder definitely ain’t making things any worse :333

For me, most of the struggles with being queer have mainly come from a result of people not understanding concepts like the split attraction model, bi-erasure, and exclusionists in general.

I figured out I was bigender because people kept using they/them pronouns for me, and it was weirdly comfortable, so that's pretty funny.

To Jayden: HELL YEAH FELLOW ACESPEC! And also fellow-uses-like-four-terms-person! Questioning is rough, but you can always just call yourself "queer" if you're unsure what terms fit you, and you can always say your a part of a wider spectrum if you're unsure what specific sublable fits you. (i.e. Bisexual spectrum is a common example.)

The name’s Jo, Cotton Eyed Jo (online name). Never really had a crush on anyone before so I go with aroace. For gender, that shit is all over the place, but for now I’m nonbinary, they/them.

Struggle? Figuring shit out. And not knowing whether people will support you or not. And those combined lead to “What if what I am now changes and I have to tell everyone to change what they call me again?”

Joy? THE COMMUNITY. Queers are awesome dude. The flags are pretty, I feel like I’m in a family of people, and it actually is a good way to connect with others.

Libraries. I love libraries.

Karaoke. I love karaoke.

I love my friends’ radio shows and listening in to them.

1. my friend has an insane record collection, so i love going to their place and having record listening days where we just enjoy music together. it always makes me particularly happy when i've added a new record to my collection that i can bring over and spin for them!

2. watching a good movie that really allows me to stretch my brain and dig into its details. i love discussing it over dinner with friends afterwards, going on letterboxd and seeing what other people think, etc.

3. when my team wins in the footy (AFL)! i'm an AVID collingwood supporter and have been since birth, so it's always special when they win because it means getting to celebrate with my family!

🐞my girlfriend. she’s my world and i love her sooo much 💕 i love hanging with her at school and cuddling, she’s sooooo cute and just so lovely + i love her radio show because she’s so good at it and she dedicates songs to me (she played our song the other day!)

🐞talking in english class. i really like the book we’ve been reading and i love talking for 70 minutes straight about all the themes 🥹

🐞my comfort youtubers. i’ve been watching them a lot more recently and they’re soooo funny (danny, kurtis, alana, avascreams, turtlewithat, and not even emily!) and they just make me joyful and giggly

interacting with my girly pops at 7brew every morning. it always makes me happy. it either helps me start my day on a good note or turns a bad one around

byler. it also makes me sad, but the idea of it, the fandom, the lore all brings me happiness

finding people to talk to who share your interests. its so nice to have someone you can infodump on and they'll do it right back at you

lemonade!! i loveee lemonade. you can add so many different flavors to lemonade, and its so refreshing.

the color yellow. it feels hopeful to me idk. makes me think of dandelions and the sun and will byers
