Thomas Curry II

“Interesting, huh? I thought about doing some research, but I think I’ll hold off on it. I don’t want to be weird, or ruin this by looking into them too much. I appreciate what you’ve told me though.” Soa says as he leans in a little to nudge his cousin once again. It wasn’t a fact that scared him though if Hugo’s family was famous. “I will keep you posted, next time we hang out I’ll call you after or something.” 

   ;  ‘ and yet it hasn’t caught on a fashion trend ?  tragic. ‘   the tone that sela spoke in had the borderline between honesty, and humour, one that she always treaded incredibly softly. she made the distinction more clear with a laugh as she turned her attention back to the half finished piece resting on the easel in front of her.    ‘ well,     i started off with a jellyfish –   but it turned into a galaxy at some point – - and now there’s a whale .. .    so it’s a whale swimming through space … ‘ 

While the two different worlds were essentially ONE, or at least ideally they should be treated as such, but the cultures that are associated with both of them are vastly different. There’s so much Soa has to learn, but he’s doing pretty good.

“I know, getting to know each other is more important. You know anytime about the Stark family?” Soa asks since Tom has more knowledge about the surface than he does at least. “I’m going to try and do it right though, and not mess it up. It was unexpected to meet someone, but I have a good feeling.”

Soa moves over to plop down onto his couch, sinking into the back of it. He was at least used to the furniture used by the surface world. He actually found it fascinating how different the cultures could be, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing.

“I can’t believe this happened, but it’s a GOOD feeling. We left things off good, although I have to impress his brother at some point.” Soa doesn’t know anything about having siblings, but his cousins were the closest that he has to something like that.

Tom smiles and steps over to settle down beside his cousin, more than happy to help him with this. He knows this is all kind of new territory for Soa and that he’s never been in this kind of place before, and Tom definitely plans on being here for him.

     ;    aquamarine hair brushed out of obscuring seraphine’s vision, she glanced up to make eye contact, a somewhat bashful smile over her features;    ‘ oh  –  do i have   paint   on my face ? ‘ 

“I wouldn’t dream of that. I’ve known a few too many people that don’t take their jobs seriously.” Soa doesn’t think that being in the army is supposed to be fun, and that’s where some of the other Atlantans make a mistake. He tries to be a good leader even if he’s a little younger than other higher up officials. He truly just wants to do GOOD and out of his father’s crazy schemes.

“I know, who knew I had it in me, right? Me? Smitten? I’ve never felt this way before. I do want to see him again, that’s normal, right? How do you go about asking someone on a proper date?”

Tom knows Soa will take his job seriously - he knows that he does, he knows that he always has. All jokes aside, that’s something he will never have to doubt, never have to question, and that kind of loyalty is something for which Tom will always be grateful.

“I appreciate you giving me another chance.” Soa nudges his cousin back gently, but he knows that it wasn’t actually a serious threat. He was too passionate about the work, and he knows that sometimes people go into it for the wrong reasons, but he really believes that they can unite the two worlds someday. It won’t be easy, but he wants to live to see a day where all of the hate is gone. He rolls his eyes at Tom saying he’ll show him up, but teasing each other was always a given.

“Well that’s a lot of questions. His name is Hugo Stark. He’s a lawyer, really cute, but I met him at the pool. He found my watch and gave it back to me, and then we started talking. I took him out to get coffee actually.” 

“Don’t you waste it now, buddy. This is a valuable opportunity.” Tom says with a mock-stern expression, like it’s ever really a concern that Soa doesn’t already take his job incredibly seriously. And Tom couldn’t be prouder of him and what he’s achieved, what he’s capable of, and the pressure of trying to step away from his father’s mission and the chaos he’d caused.

“I guess I better start looking for a new job then.” Soa laughs after that, his nose crinkling slightly as he does so. He was glad that they could joke around like this, socially since he was an only child he appreciated Tom a lot growing up. He knows that his father was a lot of things, and he knows that he truly cares for their people, but maybe one day they can make him see that there’s GOOD in the surface too. “You’re welcome, but hey. I look forward to kicking ass with you one day.” He can already see it, him telling people that they’re lucky it was only him restraining them and not his cousin.

Soa gently nudges the other with his arm. “SHUT UP, but I did meet someone actually. He was really sweet, and I have a GOOD feeling about him.” He doesn’t find himself dating often, but after meeting Hugo there was just something there between them that felt so RIGHT. He knows that he wants to see him again, and learn MORE about him. Is this what a crush felt like? He realizes that it’s his first time WANTING to take someone on a date, and maybe talking to his cousin about it will help.

“Well I might be willing to give you a pass. You know, being family and all. One more chance to prove yourself.” Tom says with a grin, nudging Soa with his elbow gently. He’d never dream of having Soa quit his job - he’s easily the best General they have and the one Tom trusts the most, and not just because he’s family. He’s proven himself time and time again, and the fact that he not only supports but shares Tom’s hopes for uniting the two worlds is something he’ll always be grateful for. “It’s going to be great, just don’t get too upset when I show you up.” Tom chuckles softly.

“They must have made a mistake letting me into the army.” Soa laughs at that, but it had been a way to prove himself to their people that he was BETTER than his father. He was royalty, but he was never interested in ruling like Orm had been once upon a time. Now his ideas were more toward hatred toward the surface world. He understands the point toward not liking the pollution they do A LOT of, but that doesn’t make Soa want to do that. He’d rather TEACH them to be better. “I know, I just hope it doesn’t come to that. I believe in you though, and I’d be honored to be by your side.”

He nudges gently back at Tom. “I’m drinking a lot of water and going to the pool. I’m not going to shrivel up.”

“Yeah I’m going to have to have a talk to someone about that. Clearly they’ve lowered the standards or something.” Tom jokes as he pats the other’s shoulder, clearly joking around. There’s no denying that Soa has earned his position in the army, and considering the way Orm behaves, he appreciates it all the more that he has Soa’s support. It means the world to him now, and it’ll mean so much more when he’s king some day. “No pressure, right?” He says with a smile. “Thank you, Soa, but the honour is all mine, to have you behind me out there.”

it had been a long time and they had more than a little to catch up on. fabian dating jasper , fabian going from security guard to police officer , jasper moving in with fabian , dealing with jasper’s alcoholism and the situation with rory , going from police officer to deputy sherif… and their ( lack of ) hearing which seemed to get worse with each year and how much they had been thinking about their FUTURE with jasper. it was no doubt that they were quite serious and would end up married. “ i think i’ve got some free time. we’ve got more than enough to catch up on. – there’s a big belly burger in town , how’s that ? “ 

“Yeah, yeah. I can be a trouble maker sometimes, but I try to stay in line. How else would I get everyone to listen to me?” Soa says and shakes his head, but he likes to think his difference personality compared to others made him a better fit to be a General. It was a lot of serious work, but he likes to have fun too. “Not like he’s going to storm out here to take me home. I’m too old for that, I’d like to think so anyway. There are beautiful parts to the surface. The plants are nice.” He admits and looks at Tom. “Help you, huh?”

His head shakes at the comment. “Hey, just because I prefer the ocean doesn’t mean I need a bucket, your highness.”

“You mean all the time, right? How someone like you became a General, I’ll never know.” Tom says, but the amusement in his voice and the grin on his face should tell his cousin he’s not at all serious. Soa’s worked hard to become such a distinguished general, and Tom is nothing but proud of him. “He’ll have to answer to me if he tries, Soa. I might not be king, but he’s still obliged to answer to the crown prince whether he likes it or not.” He and Orm will never see eye to eye, and while Tom does care for his uncle and respects him as he does all of their family, he will never be okay with the way Orm views the surface world. He’s just glad Soa doesn’t agree. “Well, yeah. If my dad doesn’t find a way first, it’s going to me on me to find a way to bring the two world together, and you’re going to be right there beside me when i do it.”

“You guys..never saw this coming?” He shook his head in disbelief. It was times like this he wished that Mak and he were still on friendly texting terms because, he was sure one of the first things he’d ever told her about Tom and Haley were how perfect they were for one another. And how they were going to end up together, literally, any day then. “is that some sort of joke?” bullshit of the most laughable variety. 

He crossed his arms. Keely waved to them, and he waved back. “Well, guess now I owe you payback in the form of, I don’t know-” Getting married and not inviting him. Trying to fight him at said wedding. Yikes. “we’ll see.”  He postured his body back to a- less obviously dramatic one, just in case. “Well. Good for you for finding your soul mate, I guess. Right in front of ya for twenty years, congratulations.” 

“Yeah yeah, I know. You’ve known this was coming forever.” Tom says with a soft chuckle, shaking his head. He never saw it coming, never had any idea that Cooper was so right - he and Haley were always just such good friends, so close and sturdy in that form of their relationship until it just - changed. How Coop saw it coming is beyond him, but he did.

“I’m always out of trouble, what are you talking about?” Soa laughs at that, but even HE has gone to parties before. He doesn’t see anything wrong with a little fun sometimes. It was weird to have a place on the surface, and he isn’t sure how well sleep will happen tonight. “Although I’ll probably be in trouble with my father, but he’ll get over it.” He admits as he steps over to his cousin. “I’m settling in alright, even if everything is so different to back home.”

His body steps away from the wall as he finished putting his Trident up on the wall. He just had a small mount installed so there could be quick access for when he would need it for obvious reasons. Soa doesn’t know when the next time he’ll go back to Atlantis, but he also wonders if his father would be upset with him. It wasn’t a problem for today, instead he moves over to the front door upon hearing someone knocking. The atlantean opens it with a grin upon seeing his cousin. “What do I owe the visit? Did you want to come in?” He moves aside so Tom could come into his apartment. [ @cftomcurry ]

@cftomcurry sunlight streams in through the curtains as haley stirred under her pile of blankets, it’s a strange feeling those times that she actually manages to sleep through the night, but she’s always been more settled when tom was around ( even before the two of them were together romantically, she couldn’t count the number of times she had phoned him in the middle of the night ) and after just how draining the holidays had been clearly she had needed the rest.

taking a moment to yawn and to stretch she shifted, turning to others side and reaching out for tom. somehow she had drifted away from him in her sleep, so it wasn’t really surprising that she moved to cuddle up to him again. “mornin’ babe,” she sighed pressing a kiss to his collar bone. “christmas was fun but i’m really not gonna complain about a quiet few days,”

Tom loves this, he absolutely adores soaking up every second of being with hals. Having her curled up beside him, having her close by, knowing that being here means he can spend as much time with her as he wants, it’s absolutely amazing. And he loves the fact that that means he can wake up to her beside him, he can hold her in his arms and just be here with her, especially when they both need it.

leave it to tom to bring the right perspective and wise words. she really shouldn’t have expected anything less. “i guess i’m just so used to doing always doing things for people.” reagan had a tendency to take over, it wasn’t that she needed things done her way, (she liked having things done her way, but it wasn’t a requirement) she was just really good at anticipating other people’s needs before they were. but usually that meant over stepping boundaries that not everyone was comfortable with! “right? all kids love disney. i honestly think i still have my belle dress from halloween a couple years ago, austin was the beast and had this whole homemade beardy mane thing. but i’m not too sure where that ended up and i’m a hundred percent sure i would never be able to convince cooper to put it on.” she said with a light laugh. she didn’t mention her ex fiance often, it was easier to pretend she was okay, pretend she had moved on when she didn’t mention him. but this time she didn’t get choked up, or stutter over his name. it was easy, simple, a memory filled with happiness and not sorrow. she doubt tom noticed the minute detail of his name being dropped so effortlessly, but it was a big deal for her, a big step.
