Daily Fodd Fact #525: Wearing glasses for vision improvement is unoptimal, to view-max you'll want to wear contacts. The reason for this is, no matter the frames or the distance from the face, the frames themselves will always block vision resulting in the loss of your peripheral but contacts do NOT have this disadvantage.
Daily Fodd Fact #524: There are 2 North Poles, the one you're thinking off, where Santa lives and the magnetic North. The magnetic North is where compass needles point and can move up to 25 miles per year. It's also known to swap places with the magnetic South Pole on occasion, the last time this happened was roughly 780,000 year ago.
Daily Fodd Fact #523: The origin for the name of "Duffle Bag" comes from the town of Duffle in Belgium where the cloth was used to make the first duffle bags. They were first made military use and designed to be used by soldiers.
Daily Fodd Fact #522: The Oxford word of the year for 2024 wassssss, Brain Rot. Woohoo, we did it. Some others were demure, dynamic pricing, lore, romantasy and slop.

Daily Fodd Fact #521: The length of a continuous single thread of raw silk from a single silk worm cocoon is roughly 300-460m.
Daily Fodd Fact #520: Around 2:00 PM on Sunday, 20th October 2019, A 38-year-old Russian by the name of Vladdejlabygr Krryzgtztkitski Krzkhvvev was hiking the Klyuchevskaya Sopka Volcano, when he decided to plunge his arm inside the lava. Vladdejlabygr received fatal complications and had his entire right arm melted into the lava. Shortly after pulling the stunt, he returned to his hiking group, who took him to the nearest hospital. After receiving hefty amounts of surgeries and medical treatments, he was asked by one of the doctors to describe what lava feels like.
The dude said, "nah, put your arm in lava and find out." After this agencies working at the 'cano cancelled all hiking plans for the next few months and closed booking for the next 6 so no other idiot would try this.
Daily Fodd Fact #519: Proplifting is the act of taking discarded plant material and growing a new plant from it. The discarded plant material is often produced by floor sweepings and while the material, for all intents and purposes, is trash it's still the property of the establishment. More immoral proplifting would occur when the maniacal person committing the heinous crime were to take from the plant instead of what's naturally shed.
Daily Fodd Fact #518: Cilantro (aka the leaves of the coriander plant) can taste like soap to a minute part of the population due to a genetic variation causing them to strongly perceive the soapy-flavoured aldehydes in the leaves. East Asians have the highest chance of having the gene, in some regions up to 20%.
Daily Fodd Fact #517: A study, that I will NOT name, finds that mosquitoes are more likley to be attracted to the colours; red, orange, cyan and black so get your emo ahh to stop wearing so much black.

Daily Fodd Fact #516: There is a reason why hit manga/anime Bleach is named the way it is. It was originally going to be named "Black" due to the soul reaper's clothing but this was taken to be too generic so he (Tite Kubo) thought of "White", which clearly does not have the same issue, but landed on Bleach for its association to white and therefore being a little less obvious.
Daily Fodd Fact #515: According to a source women make better selections for gifts than men, for most categories, however only 50% of people actually like their gifts, it just seems the art of gifting is lost on people as a whole. Truly a tragedy.
Daily Fodd Fact #514: The reason why 0 is after 9 on your keyboard goes back to the good ol' type writer. Before 0 and 1 were even things that existed on the keyboard people used to write them as Is and Os since the keys were always in caps anyways but then there was a glorius evolution which allowed for keyboards to write in lowercase, becoming inconvinient to use shift + o to write a 0. So, since 0 needed to be added and there was still no 1 , it was slapped on after 9. 1 was introduced later on.
I think one of the funniest abortion stances I've heard was from my parents neighbor. He's a like, hard-core libertarian viking larper guy who is very tall and very fat and very bald.
He believes a fetus is human with a soul, but also its "basically attacking the woman's body" so if she wants to get rid of it, that's "basically self-defense". He compared it to shooting a home invader. So he supports abortion not as healthcare, but as killing a baby in self-defense
Y'know I'm so glad someone reminded me of this. Because this was also discussed.
My stepmother did NOT like the way her Libertarian Viking Neighbor framed pregnancy as the fetus "attacking the woman". She incredulously told him this was extremely disrespectful to expectant mothers to portray pregnancy as so violent and negative.
Libertarian Viking Neighbor's response was that people consensually hurt each other all the time, and "there's like a whole community about that, with the acronym the one that starts with a B" And his reasoning was that if the mother was consenting to bring attacked by the baby, it in fact wasn't violent and negative because there was consent.
He brought up people consensually hurting each other, didn't go for one of the obvious answers like boxing or body mods or something, no he went STRAIGHT TO BDSM and he DIDN'T EVEN REMEMBER THE ACRONYM

Daily Fodd Fact #513: Wine pleasure may be impacted by your DNA. Taste receptors are encoded by 25 genes in the human body. According to studies, those who have two copies of the most sensitive TASR38 gene are more likely to find alcohol to be bitter and unappealing.
