          “I do not often make a habit of getting lost.” She insists, more a young woman than oracle at this moment with the way her smile tilts the corners of her mouth and the embarrassed flush of red on her cheeks. She likes to think herself humble and moments such as these—getting turned around more than once on the winding streets of Archimedes—help her immensely. Help was easy to come by, luckily, and Lunafreya, stubborn as she may be, didn’t mind asking for aid when it was needed. “Forgive me for taking up your time, but I would like to thank you properly at the very least, however. But only if you can, of course; I wouldn’t want to keep you longer than I already have.”

   ❝ we can do another round if ya wanna try again. ❞  the sound of the victory bell takes a few more seconds to ring before it fades into the bustle of the boardwalk’s crowd. as if on clockwork, the worker resets the balloon popping game to its original state, waiting on either of them to make the decision to continue.

  standing idly at the booth, matt’s still holding the darts in one hand and taking a drag of his cigarette with another. she seemed pretty determined to win earlier, giving him a temporary run for his money.  ❝ i won’t hold back if you say yes though. ❞

     “of course i want to try again! you’re not going to beat me this time... i’m pretty determined, y’know.” aerith did not realize one game could be so challenging, especially trying to keep your hand steady in order to pierce as many balloons as you possibly could but like she said, the difficulty wasn’t going to stop her from searching for a victory. he was bound to slip up eventually, right? “you’ve got to give it your all, got it? like last time! or else what’s the point? should we make the game more interesting?” she questions, placing her hand beneath her chin. but after finding her resolve, she turns towards the worker in front of the counter. “excuse me~ we’d like to try again, please.”

There was something about the girl that struck Gladio. Perhaps she vaguely reminded him of Iris, or maybe he just thought she looked like a friendly face. Either way, Gladio was not shy about going up to strangers and speaking to them; he’d had to do that plenty of times before, but this time it had the added benefit of perhaps making a new friend.

He walked up to her and offered her a smile. “Hey, sorry to bother you. I’m kind of exploring, was wondering if you knew of any good places to see. I’m really new here,” he said, motioning around. “Both to the Cotes Ward and to this city.”

The cold chill made Dedue shiver, but he tried to pay it no mind. He probably would need to buy himself a scarf later, or at least some gloves to keep his fingers from freezing. All the currency was on this… device that he was given, and he hadn’t figured out how it worked just yet.

He paused, the snow gently drifting down and landing on his shoulders. He noticed a young woman holding some flowers, and the thought that maybe there was a greenhouse, or another area by which to look at winter blooms made him smile.

“Excuse me, if it wouldn’t be any trouble,” he started, feeling uncomfortable with his own words. “Might I ask you where you got those flowers?”

     aerith was not ever ready for the current type of weather, not with her long pink dress which reminded her that she had to make plans to do a bit of shopping once she could make time. she had found her way back to this particular city again, having no idea how they transferred her back after she tried to make an attempt to leave it. but even she didn’t know why. 

     her eyes gaze down at the flowers in her basket and those planted beneath the soil, checking to make sure the snow fall was not heavily damaging the flowers which weren’t clearly made for the chilly forecast. soon after, she found herself gazing at the sky painted white and admiring it from inside. she did not expect someone else to catch her attention, or rather the flowers capturing his interest.

     “hey! i’m standing right here. you really should ought to pay attention to your surroundings, y’know?” aerith was sure that she had seen him once before, she couldn’t forget someone who looked this young but with so many bruises on him yet their first meeting being a little hazy for her, she did not attempt to hide the frown that was plastered on her face either. she didn’t particularly have a problem with anyone smoking but did they have to blow their cigarette smoke in her face or indoors especially? how cruel. “it’d be bad of i just smelled of cigarette smoke for the rest of the day, horrible!” however that didn’t stop her from finding something delicious to eat despite the smell from earlier.

     no matter how many times she found herself visiting this place, it was never not going to appreciate the view from underneath the bright pink cherry blossom trees. it was exciting, to see the flowers that they wouldn’t normally around midgar, at least she didn’t think so. aerith wondered if she would be able to plant the same ones in her own personal garden back at home, which was a thought that was planted in her mind immediately. 

     she just wasn’t admiring the view alone though, finding herself in the company of another who only just now caught her attention. stepping forward just enough for her face to be in view of his, aerith leaned forward before looking up at the pink petals once again. “this place is great, don’t you think? have you been somewhere like this before? because i sure haven’t...” she just had to make conversation, not wanting to stand around in silence and all especially when he just seemed so at peace, at least in this light.  

Nothin’ like checking out your phone in the middle of some grand party while everyone’s having fun. Makes ya stick out.
