ok i fear one of the only reasons i got thru gideon the ninth was because gideon narrating necromancy while clearly giving zero shits about it aligned with me giving zero shits about necromancy/magic system/reincarnation and body swapping rules in that book (and probably the whole series by extension). (not a reflection on how all of that was handled in gtn, i simply have never cared about magic systems ever in my extensive history of reading fantasy. give me c.s. lewis “rules” of magic or give me death.) like every time she undercut some dense ass paragraph of exposition i was like thank god girl i was also bored out of my mind reading that. i know people thought that was an immature pithy edgy teen YA tendency of hers but god was it a saving grace to me. i fear i was looking for anything but necromancy at the necromancy store. i should probably die with gideon (i know she doesn’t really die maybe probably honestly i don’t give a shit) and leave the series at the end of the first book. unfortunately this makes me even more just like her cuz i know gideon nav would not read gideon the ninth her ass barely reads <3
