Basically, raptors by and large have really powerful feet/talons. When they are stressed out/highly stimulated, they will attempt to grab/kill things with those talons. The problem is that raptors cannot relax their grip when they are stressed out/highly stimulated. They hold on to whatever they are grabbing until they get less stimulated/calm down enough to let go. Until then, whatever they’ve grabbed onto is theirs and good fucking luck getting it back.

Applying this to Hawks, when he gets really stressed out/really excited/super high stimulus, and something moves in his line of sight/touches him, he’ll latch onto whatever it is and he physically cannot let go until he calms down. Doesn’t matter what it is, doesn’t matter if he wants to hold onto it or not. He cannot let go.

Sometimes, this is handy:

Grabbing people when they’re falling.

Catching things thrown at him

It’s really hard for people to wrestle things out of his hands once he has them.

Othertimes, this is The Absolute Worst:

Someone throws a Dangerous Object at him, and he catches it without thinking.

Dabi thought it’d be funny to sneak up on him. Now Hawks has a death grip on him and Cannot Let Go and also someone is about to come in the room.

Hawks gets too excited about something and just fucking latches onto the person next to him with no warning/regard for who that person is

He can pretty much only watch horror movies with Miruko because he needs someone who doesn’t mind him death griping them the entire movie.

- Uraraka sleeps in mittens so she won’t float her bed away

- Iida is powered by orange juice

- Midoriya is a terrible dancer

- Todoroki liked strawberry milk when he was little

- Bakugou’s parents are fashion designers

- Hawks, the number two pro hero, chose Tokoyami as an intern because together they make One Whole Bird and he wanted to fly with him

- All Might acts like Midoriya’s dad so often that a classmate assumed Midoriya must be his secret love child

- All Might reads Teaching For Dummies

- Present Mic chose Aizawa’s hero name because Aizawa didn’t care what it was

- Tetsutetsu and Kirishima have the same birthday and almost identical dorm rooms

- Monoma likes messing with the foreign exchange students

I really find it funny how 24 year olds on tumbloo dot hell will be like “if you’re over 25 you shouldn’t publicly mention that you like anything that has a fandom and if you do you’re a loser, I personally will NEVER be that immature because I have a LIFE” and then in like a year they’ll be like “actually the cutoff age is ummmmm 30”.

Like… I get where this sometimes comes from, I really do, and everyone who follows me knows by now that I will yell about fandom creeps until I’m cold in the ground*, but there is in fact a difference between making kids aware of predatory behaviours to watch out for, calling out creeps, talking to adults about keeping their behaviour with younger fans appropriate, etc, and literally just spewing snide ageing stigma bullshit because you think getting older is a sign of moral failure and that you’re gonna be an uwu innocent cinnamon role 24 year old softkid in a flower crown forever. I would go so far as to say that the latter is actually kind of an actual barrier to being open and honest with young people about the former in ways that are actually supportive and protective! Also, did u kno: csa victims age just like literally everyone else and many of us find the idea that the act of merely becoming adults makes us inherently embarrassing social failures at best and predators at worst to be, like, upsetting.
