Remember ‘The Nicest Place On The Internet’? It was a website where you could watch videos of strangers giving virtual hugs. It was a lovely place to go to when feeling lonely or sad.

The website doesn’t work anymore, and with people stuck at home due to the current pandemic, I thought that it’s a pity that it doesn’t exist anymore.

So, I’d like to revive the idea, and I’d like to expand on it. Obviously, I need participants for this to work.

This is my idea: There’d be two versions:

A video playlist of people giving hugs or making the heart sign or something similar. No speech. 3, 4 written words or a short written sentence is okay, too. For example, you could write “love” on your hand. No background music, please. If you don’t feel comfortable being on camera but still would like to participate, feel free to get creative. Your plush toy could do the hug, for example.

A video playlist of people saying some encouraging words or showing some encouraging written message. Just a short message with a maximum length of 30 seconds. No background music, please. Again, feel free to get creative if you don’t like to be on camera.

To participate with a video you can either…

…upload the video to your youtube channel and send me the link.

…upload the video to some file sharing platform and send me the download link.

…send the video directly by email. If it’s too big and you can’t upload it for whatever reason, contact me, and we’ll find a solution.
