Think about the whole drama that has occurred after 2013. Rumours for frozen relationships, divorces, crazy as fuck decisions for the show, sudden plot changes, weirdly behaving and always peevish showrunners and cast, enormous plot holes, lack of merch too and everyone lashing out on the fans or even having personal issues with some of them.

Now tell me, how many times have these things happened in other fandoms? Is this entire weird mess the Johnlockers’ fault, who after all are just a fraction of the fandom? COME ON, people. (Slash) shipping is a huge thing in the world and even if other shippers were not as convinced as we were that their ship would be canon, it makes no sense why they have such a huge problem with it. So many actors, so many creators, nobody flips out and keeps mentioning a ship forever. Come. On.
