How about a fun stretch goal. If this dumb picture gets 10,000 notes, I’ll paint it. Oil or acryilic, I dunno but on canvas or canvas board.
it’s a work of art already might as well turn it into an even more ridiculous work of art am i right

Made it
Op CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Oh my fucking god it sure did. You all did it, I cannot believ what I just woke up to.
I guess I know what I’m doing over the holidays??? I’ll post progress updates when I can I guess!?
It may take me a while, but i'm doing it goddamnit. Im doing it.
maybe this is not my place to say because I am monolingual, and I'm sure it's part of a larger, more nuanced discussion about visibility and accessibility on the internet, but I think it'd be cool if people posted in their native languages more instead of in english. I see people do it way more on other platforms than on tumblr which is almost exclusively in english

I recently learned that GTA 4 added a bunch of construction in the middle of the longest road in the game to prevent players from driving too quickly down it and outrunning the game's ability to stream data from the disk. Besides the "door that takes awhile to unlock" and the "character moves through a tight space very slowly", what are other game design decisions dictated by read/write speeds?
Oh, this is a good one.
The first Mass Effect famously made players wait in elevators while assets streamed in. There were a lot of elevator-specific conversations that triggered in that game.
When I did some level design on a game (that eventually got cancelled for other reasons), I would often have to construct narrow hallways between larger areas that required a player to enter on one closed door and be unable to see the next area from the entrance so that the game could stream in the assets for the next area. We called them "decomps", short for "decompression chamber".
There was a Tiger Woods Golf game (Tiger Woods 99 PGA Tour Golf) that famously got recalled for padding their disc with a South Park episode so that the game data was closer to the outer ring of the disc and would thus be read faster by the device laser.
We will also hide many loading sessions with cutscenes and cinematics. While the cinematic is playing (with camera angles carefully chosen, visual effects constrained, and timing controlled), we can load the next gameplay area without the player noticing.
Many environment designs will feature a short dropoff in the geometry after navigating through a play area. Most players will never look back, but the dropoff exists to stop players from backtracking to the previously explored area. Once the player passes the dropoff, it is safe to unload the previous environment since the player can't easily go back.

Third base is when your blood is on my hands
Forth base is dying in front of you
fifth base is coming back from the dead to die in front of you yet again
Sixth base is seeing my shadow in your reflection as a representation how we parallel one another and how you are unable to move on from me despite the harm we caused one another. I may be gone but the memory of me will never die as I haunt you for the rest of your life.
I’m going to be honest. First base is ideological disagreement and second base is when I threaten to kill you for the first time
Please, dont go
this has been on my mind lately

I have not forgotten about this. It haunts me to this day.
But i finally got a space in my room cleared up enough to set this all out again. Progress is happening!

The thing about the Witch Hat Atelier world is that the magic system sounds great until you realize it's essentially programming and that sobers you up immediately. Sure, maybe you reach the level of skill needed to draw perfect curves, straight lines, and circles without looking down, but after that you still need to be able to logic out which combination of sigils will actually give you the desired effect, and if you misplace a single line it all goes to shit. Add to that the inclusion of effect-altering inks and you start to understand why Olruggio is Like That.
some of you need to realize that your faves would be having unsafe bdsm sex because they don’t actually know what bdsm sex is, they just want to fuck and also kill each other. you must understand this.
I can't take credit for this as it was something I was talking about with my friend. but as we were watching DR3, we noticed that izuru often says "tsumaranai/how boring" whenever he sees something that would be particularly traumatizing or frightening to most people. One example is Chisa's brainwashing/torture scene, and another is when the future foundation attack ships are coming to Jabberwock. As we were talking, we theorized that, because of the trauma and torture that Izuru has been through, seeing these traumatic events is likely still traumatizing or distressing, but he will dissociate as a way to cope with seeing these things, since visible emotion and fear were punished out of him during the kamukura project. but he perceives the feeling of dissociation as emptiness or boredom, which is when he will say this. it almost seems like a phrase to ground himself.

What do you see through the broken mirror
GLaDOS voice: "Would you like to see some artwork I generated? I've heard from other test subjects that AI-generated artwork produces an uncanny valley response in human viewers because they can't perceive it as fully real. They've told me that it looks absolutely hideous to them, that they can't imagine anything more disgusting than AI art. But, well I've been practicing and wanted your honest opinion. Feel free to let me know how ugly you find this by ranking it on a scale from 'vomit-inducing' to 'eye-bleeding'." A robotic arm lowers from the ceiling holding a hand mirror up to Chell's face
