To any visitors or followers, tell me your favorite things in the world. I can make it cat related, trust me. I just want to know what the people want.

For curiosity's sake, I'd like to ask my tumblr followers and visitors a question. I'm wondering why certain posts I make are more popular than others. Of course I can see that posts which are reblogged are seen by more people and become more popular in that fashion. But some posts I've made don't receive a reblog at all. It's that first step which fuels my quandary.

The answer is a resounding no. Cats don't drink coffee and shouldn't be encouraged to do so. Caffeine, even from the weakest coffee, can agitate your cat, give them muscle tremors, and increase it's heart rate to an unhealthy (and very uncomfortable) level.

Other things you should never give your cat:

Alcohol - Causes severe liver and brain damage, comas and death

Chocolate - Causes heart arrhythmias, muscle tremors, and/or seizures

Dairy (such as milk) - Causes indigestion, vomiting and diarrhea

Fat trimmings, raw meat, fish, eggs - Causes vomiting, diarrhea, Salmonella or E. coli

Grapes and raisins - Can possibly cause kidney failure as it does for dogs, though there's no record of cats being tricked into eating this yet

Onions and garlic - Causes indigestion. Severe cases include anemia

Tuna (the kind made for humans and not specifically for cats) - Causes indigestion. Constant feeding of tuna can cause a painful condition called steatitis, or inflammation of the body's fat

Xylitol (and other sweeteners found in sugar-free foods) - Can possibly cause a severe drop in blood sugar followed by liver failure as it does for dogs

If your cat does eat something harmful and is experiencing side-effects, call your local veterinarian or call Pet Poison Helpline at 1-855-213-6680.
