These drawings were created to reflect mindfulness meditation. I practiced mindfulness to combat a particularly bad episode of panic attacks and anxiety in my 20s and as it started to alter my negative thought patterns I also saw a natural reflection in my drawing at the time. From a usual loose expressive style I found myself wanting to create focused repetitive pattern which took hours of mindful concentration. I used drawing as an extension of my meditative practice. Using fine tipped pens, pencils or silverpoint I gave myself a set amount of time, sometimes just five minutes but other times up to 5/6 hours, to sit and draw without distraction (wherever possible!) using the time to try and keep my thoughts only on the drawing and the present moment.
