So first I'll introduce Mugi, from what I've been calling the Munchkin line (around 42cm)! She came to my mind on December 2022 after my brother mocked me on Christmas about always making dolls that looked melancholic.

I had been wanting to make an MSD doll for a long time, but never found motivation nor inspiration. Quickly after starting Mugi, I made a bunch of heads (it happens once in a while, I get a "frenzy" and I start a few heads or dolls all at once, then some get stored because I don't find them interesting anymore 🫠) I started naming them all with names starting with M, so there is Mugi, Momo, Mei Fang (or MeiMei) and Minette.

Still, Mugi was my favourite of those, so it's the one I've focused on finishing.

Mugi next to Fang, since my idea is that Mugi looks good next to my Juvenille line (small SD). It will be the first time that I make a new doll line that has the same scale as another of my lines. So she can be a little sister!

My Games Workshop guy told me that its basically the same as Purity Seal, except that they got rid of the weird dusting/frosting effect that was present in several batches of Purity Seal in the last year.

While that in itself is really nice - there are two things that I’m not completely happy with. One - they made it more expensive. PS was 13,40€ before, MS is 15,50€ now for 400ml.

The rest of the bottles is exactly the same. I’ve read that when I was home, and my first though was “Fuuuuck.” … second though was “Fuck it, I’ll test it.”

So well, I did. first on a headcap, then on a head - my new Venitu, to be precise.

So, result? It doesn’t cloud, its not shiny, it doesn’t leave a weird powder-y surface after drying (which I had with PS sometimes). It gives a really nice texture to work on; nothing too coarse, but grippy enough to be able to finish a face-up with only 3 base layers and 3 layers in the end. My watercolor pencils don’t chip of the sealant (which I also had sometimes with PS), but instead make crisp, clean lines, and pastels stick pretty well to it too.

My guess is they’re using the Acetone to dissolve the actual sealant better when you’re shaking the bottle, so it evaporates when you spray it. I haven’t noticed anything weird happening to the resin; my Venitu still has a slight texture in the resin, so it didn’t melted (as far as I can see).

It did not lighten the color of the resin like what Vallejo, MSC, or ZM spray. No powder residue. A tad bit shiny, so I’m worried if I do too many layers. And by shiny it reminded of how the bare resin looks. I only noticed it under bright light at certain angles.
