all the angels have gone away // laura palmer and padme amidala
padmes queen voice being artificially lowered in post to sound like the origin for Vader's low pitch and accent is crazy it makes me crazy that he was in that suit learning how to be a person again in a medical torture device & was like i guess i will mimic my dead wife's intonation she used in her stint as child queen to legitimise myself as the emperor's freaky cyborg wizard sonwife
i keep thinking about it because im reading the prequel novelisations and im still on phantom menace reading the inner thoughts of this fucking 9 year old with a sweet crush on an older girl the way many average 9 year olds do and its making me SAD because anakin's listening to her and sabe doing the Queen Voice and whether its a conscious choice or not that poor kid has like 15 years before it's back to slavery and no more im a person & my name is anakin you have to be his monster you have to wield authority you have fucked up not only your entire life but an entire religious order too and you have to learn fast how to be an entirely new creature to anything you have been before. its fucking unbearable if i think about it too long. padme hasnt even been gone that long and the small amount of free will vader has left goes to imitating the way Queen Amidala spoke because that's the first thing vader can think of when creating a new persona that sounds imposing and powerful. and then i look back at the page and its just 9 year old anakin innocently watching padme & the handmaidens doing the Queen Voice. should we all kill ourselves
For anyone who questions why Anakin gets to be a force ghost and hang with his Jedi pals you need to understand that the second they all became one with the force and attained cosmic omniscience they understood Anakin for the first time ever and every single one of them immediately reacted with “should we all kill ourselves?”
force ghost equivalent of a nuclear bomb dropping
help i went to submit an ask that the obiwan post was tagged obikin and then it disappeared before i could lmao
yea im not trying to control other people but its not what i want on my blog lol

always so funny to me when i see people say that padme and anakin would have divorced if she had lived past revenge of the sith, because i really do NOT think either of them would survive that. like i fear this is a ride or die situation very literally, no matter the atrocities either of them commit (obviously particularly anakin) they are staying locked in to that marriage together. padme is not quitting him.
sooooo fucked up but padme and shmi are inextricably linked in anakin’s mind as both his family, his attachments and the people he will do anything to keep in his life, the secret-most part of him he gets to have all to himself, ANDDD palpatine is in that secret chamber too. he didn’t grow up with a father so he’s got palpatine and obi-wan to choose from, and obi-wan loves him obviously but can only say it when he thinks anakin is dying, like it or not there is a level of emotional repression in the prime jedi order that anakin simply never gets from palpatine who he kneels before and trusts without question. palpatine and padme the politicians he is told not to trust, shmi the mother he was never meant to see again. mother & father & mother to his children. each an attempt at a family unit he never really got. it’s the evilest dynamic of all time and of course it ends in a bloodbath
like whateverrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
like it’s fine it’s normal
^ all the more powerful to see this ex-queen meet the ex-slave in the darkest pit of his despair as he debases himself, knowing this same debasement and deathly loyalty will later be used to create the biggest monster in the galaxy. this is maybe the one moment where it is only met with love
A fun fact: In one of the drafts for rots, Anakin's full line to Padme here is 'our baby is a blessing, not a problem'.
i have a perhaps dicey opinion that if you’re doing real life political parallels to anakin, he’s more like a lone shooter who is revealed to have incomphrensible politics than the boyfriend with a republican podcast. this is to say of course he’s dangerous but crucially mentally scrambled

they’re indistinguishable from every pro jedi poster on this site have to be real

thank u for being one of 5 people who understand star wars.
as the years go by i believe we can up this number. maybe even get to 7
You have so many correct opinions. I'm very glad someone else can watch movies and understand things
the sheer tragedy of obi wan telling luke he needs to either kill his father or let the galaxy be enslaved forever is something we need to deny or skirt around. we need obi wan not to believe that. we need him not to have said that. we need luke to have both not heard and not disobeyed that. we cant sit with a narrative of biblical forgiveness. everything the good guy says needs to be correct with cited wookiepedia sources and everything the bad guy says is irrelevant. we need to do this. because having even a slightly critical take on a fictional religion is of course, how we get genocide. we have to obey and defend the fictional religion forever. see how boring you all are? see why you’re not fun to talk to???
it is valid to want to kill Vader, though. Obiwan tried to reason with him and he was far too gone, why is this negative, when vader has killed millions, every rebel would agree vader needed to be gone, how is this wrong
my notes are full of people apologizing to me for having to deal with you
its actually so sickening the way luke was trained as an attack dog more than as a jedi. he has to seek out the gentler uses of the force on his own because obiwan and yoda wanted him ready to kill vader and werent really thinking too far past that part. its so fucked up cuz like . did they even expect him to live himself? or was killing vader the more important part. when did he learn about force healing? and how many lives were lost because he didnt know it sooner. crusty old men. fr.
the climax of his character arc being him tossing his lightsaber aside still makes me go crazy. he looks at vader’s wiry stump. he looks at his own prosthetic hand. he realizes he’s become part of an ancient cycle of violence. and then he ends it! insane.
luke wasn't trained like an attack dog he ended the violence his father started by chosing the right path taught by his Jedi masters. There's no reason for Yoda and Obi-Wan to believe vader would change and they were right he killed padme and almost killed luke it wasn't until the very last moment vader helped him. Force healing only exists in the new trilogy
^ average incoherent reply by people who treat the jedi as a real religion and need a movie for 8 year olds to be even simpler
the movies are very simple, the Jedi are good and vader and Palpatine are dark side which is a cancer in the force?
just like talking to a brick wall
genuinely obiwan believing&saying that is why he's interesting to me & my fave and it's boring to ignore it
he’s such a classic movie archetype who happens to believe in patricide with all his heart you’d think this wouldn’t be so impossible to grasp
