after a mishap of the magnitude of that of the spring festival happens, the police station became high demand. cassandra feels frustrated by it, truly. frustrated and angry that so many people helped in drugging people – drugging kids, even. since then she decides to put extra hours and help on it. she isn’t the greatest with the people coming in to testify as victims, but she is better when it comes to suspects. 

“ nicholas, ”   she says once the suspect of the day comes on it. well, he’s not exactly a suspect – there aren’t proofs for that. however, nick is known to have been in the drug scene and cassandra and many others wonder if he has any helpful information.   “ glad you could make it. follow me, please. ”   she adds before walking down the hallway leading to the interrogation room. 

it’s not unusual for cassandra to be hanging around the detectives. many would point out how she’s just trying to go up ranks – which isn’t a complete lie – however, she really enjoys helping in any way she can as a street cop. since the disaster that broke havoc during the spring festival, cassandra is on high alert. it reminds her of the jenny case on halloween, how it seems like an invisible force pulled strings and left no traces of their actions. she knows it’s sykes and yet again, they’re not able to prove it. 

and speaking of the havoc – from the text messages cassandra received on the day of, she guesses bianca didn’t go unscathed. the police officer didn’t want to disclose much right then, knowing bianca couldn’t be of much help. right now though, she’s curious to see where bianca stands on all this. 

“ hey, ”   she greets once she’s close enough to bianca’s table. cassandra leans onto her hip and looks down at the detective curiously.   “ how you been doing? ”

there are many things cassandra expect to go wrong during the spring festival, but this one was never on her list. she’s on her cop motorcycle, sirens turned on and she makes a sign for the woman in front of her to stop and park her motorcycle. she knows it’s sharna, of course, and though cassandra has her on friendly terms, it doesn’t mean she’s putting her duty aside. so when sharna finally stops, cassandra is pulling up as well, taking note of where she keeps her fine notifications. in one sweeping move, cassandra takes off her helmet before walking towards the woman. 

“ really, sharna? today? ” she asks, annoyance undisguised on her voice. 

Bianca couldn’t help but let out an amused laughter and Cassandra’s suggestion. That definitely wasn’t what she was saying, but even if it wasn’t a legitimate suggestion, it still wasn’t the worst idea that she had ever heard. She had certainly heard far more implausible ideas delivered in a far more serious tone from some of their esteemed coworkers. Truth be told, it wasn’t the first time that the detective had noticed that Cass could outthink any number of people on the force who outranked her, and it probably wouldn’t be the last.

“Through a local business, perhaps,” Bianca pondered, thinking that Sykes might not be able to resist the opportunity to sink his claws into another establishment in town. Then again, he seemed to have his hand in so many different cookie jars that it was difficult to know which was his focus at any given time. “Buy anything that I can think of would require a significant amount of probable cause to justify doing. Which we don’t have.”

she worries on her bottom lip, teeth digging as she listens to bianca. it’s nothing but wishful thinking and yet she can’t help but hope that this silly suggestion of hers sparks some magical inspiration on her counterpart. it doesn’t happen, of course. if a magical solution was possible, cassandra is positive they would’ve hunted it down. again, the brunette has to control the urge to hit something. if only she had a probable cause to justify skye’s face under her fist - wouldn’t that be the most satisfying thing? 

her fingers drum against the table and cassandra leans forward, sips on her coffee instead of tossing her mug across the room. “ fucking skyes, ” she nearly hisses. her jaw locks as the brunette puts herself to think again over the frustration setting on her gut. “ but if we can’t bait skyes, ” she starts, pausing. “ what would take to bait some of his minions? because those should be easier to get to. ”

cassandra was fourteen when she discovered what a crush is. this girl was in one of her classes and cassandra was absolutely mesmerized by her. she was soft in all ways that cassandra was rough & the young brunette thought she could stare at her forever. it never went further - as a closeted lesbian girl, cassandra never told her she liked her and she became just a fond memory.

Posey could understand where the other was coming from because she wasn’t a very sociable person herself so there was only really a few people with whom she could really trust and communicate with so she was more delighted when the other took the seat she offered; “I have b-been told by m-my therapist to try and get o-out more and communicate w-with people so I am t-trying to do that because I s-sometimes find it really d-difficult to do so” it was definitely a barrier but one she wasn’t allowing her to stop her.

cassandra has to admit: it takes some courage to put yourself out there. especially when there’s something different about your speech. it explains a lot about the blonde woman and why she seems to lack social articulation. the woman takes a sip of her coffee - thankfully the coffee machine works - and nods at posey. “well, i can say that i think it’s difficult to communicate with people, so i can only imagine what it’s like for you,” cassandra says. “sorry i came off as rude earlier, i just didn’t know what to think of you and my job is to be suspicious.”

bo smiled at the other she never forgot a face when she met them. “i’m grand I mean performing on a sore throat but I’m alright, thank you so much, I mean I tried to do my best given the state my voice is now” she said a slight rasp to the end of it “I don’t know it’s like my lungs are plastic or something I couldn’t get enough air there” she said before ordering two for the pair of them. “how’s work good?”

cassandra’s eyebrows knit together at the slight ramble from the woman in front of her. she never imagined the singer is this as sick as she says she is. lungs feeling like plastic? it definitely doesn’t sound as a good thing. “uhhhh-” cassandra starts, a bit awkwardly. “that sounds bad. are you sure you should be singing? or be out of your bed?” the brunette asks, raising her eyebrows. “it’s been fine, yeah. andromeda isn’t the most eventful of places.”

Tina glanced slowly over her shoulder at the offer of another chocolate bar, though she was still visibly huffing about the original. “A second chocolate bar?” she asked suspiciously, finally turning fully to give the other woman a once over. Frankly, she didn’t care that she was being a nuisance, but was she about to turn down both a challenge and the prospect of more chocolate? No.

“That’s not a fair deal,” Tina continued, sticking her nose stubbornly in the air. “I can’t get the chocolate bar out silently, but I can get it out quietly.”

“a second chocolate bar, yes.” cassandra agrees, nodding her head. she is proud when the other woman takes her bait, at least for a moment. she is proud at herself for figuring out that if the blonde wouldn’t step down from the challenge the vending machine posed, she wouldn’t step down from cassandra’s bet. the brunette is disappointed to find that it might not work properly and grant her the sweet sweet gift of silence. her eyebrows raise at the woman’s negotiation and crosses her arms. “well, define quietly,” she says. “i’m interested in your plan for this.”
