ā¦I feel personally attacked
...tumblr stole my icon.
This new system is terrible.
when i was in like third grade i went to this science camp and one night at campfire they told us a story about a ufo crashing into a lake nearby and then later in the middle of the night they woke us all up and told us the aliens were back and this time theyād laid eggs in the woods !! it was our duty to arm ourselves and go destroy the eggs, so we armored up in tinfoil and shaving cream ( ????? ) and marched into the woods ready to save the planet. the āeggsā were whole watermelons hidden around the camp and we had to smash them open on trees and rocks and eat the alien fetus/watermelon goo as fast as possible. i cannot emphasis enough the raw joy of digging into a watermelon with your bare hands and stuffing it into your face in the middle of the night in the woods, barely taking time to chew so that you can save the planet from hostile aliens, and i think i became the person i am because of that night.
me as a camp councelor
I can not stress this enough but, what the fuck.
we been knew these two ladies were head over heels and knee deep gay for each other and this is really just the cherry on topā¦it really is 20gayteen

hereās my hot take of the night: D.E.B.S would be an honest to god trash movie if it was straight. it would be so bad. but by the sheer fact that itās a lesbian movie about a spy and a super villain falling in love and running away together itās an incredible work of art and I would die for it
the scene when amy and lucy first run into each other, are holding each other at gun point, casually debate whether or not lucy should be arrested, then break the standoff to shake hands and make introductions? would have been terrible if it was straight. would have been dumb as hell. but lesbians being lesbians made it truly iconic, only lesbians would break off holding a criminal at gunpoint to shake her hand and eventually let her go because sheās really hot. amy? a lesbian icon
i wanna stress that i am DEAD serious about how bad it would have been specifically if it was straight⦠a straight couple could not pull off the perfect kind of dumb flirting and uselessness at being an evil super villain AND uselessness at being the poster child spy solely because youāre both incredibly gay and your āenemyā is a hot girl⦠straights WISH they could
Crying is how humans safely release stress. Itās why you feel better after crying: the release valve was triggered and youāre not pent up any more. That men are societally denied this release is both sad and dangerous.
To add tho: if, while crying, youāre beating yourself up (i.e., Iām a terrible person, I donāt deserve to cry, this is my fault, etc.) the crying wonāt be as effective.
Why? Because quite literally, your body is getting rid of built up chemicals from whatever is causing stress. If youāre beating yourself up while crying, all youāre doing is creating more of those chemicals that then build up all over again.
Crying is natural, donāt demean yourself bc youāre crying, even if itās in public. Just let yourself cry. You have feelings and sometimes that shit builds up. Try to cut yourself a little bit of slack, even if itās just for a short while.
yesterday at the store, i said ābabeā to get my girlfriends attention and like four women who arenāt my girlfriend looked at me and the lesbian power fjrjfndmsmzksp
i said it again at the bar and the bartender turned like i was talking to her djfnfjdndkdjd

Donna Gottschalkās āBrave, Beautiful Outlawsā is opening at Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art in New York, on 29 Aug 2018. While she doesnāt identify as a documentary photographer or a photojournalist, she has been making pictures since she was 17. Photos selected from her 50-year personal archive will be made public for the first time.
Donnaās work documents her closeness with her working class family and her involvement with the radical lesbian, sometimes separatist, communities in the late ā60s and ā70s. āBrave, Beautiful Outlawsā focuses on her early work, during the time of her most intense political activism.
The photos are tinged with mourning and mystery. Sheās been holding their memory for decades, āfiercely protectiveā and unwilling to āsubject them to scrutiny, judgment and abuseā from the outside world.
āUnderstand, people didnāt care about them or my pictures of them back in the day,ā she said. āThese people were all very dear to me, and they were beautiful. These pictures are the only memorial some of these people will ever have.ā

do you ever see someone in some quiet intimate moment and suddenly love them so desperately you feel like youāre dying
#like when they pass a mirror and make a face and mess with their hair a little #or when you hear someone singing in their car with the windows rolled up as they drive past you #i donāt know how to express this i just. people are people and it makes me so sad and filled up sometimes
I love seeing grown humans setting about little creative tasks out of boredom and then looking quietly pleased with themselves, like maybe a middle-aged woman on her train home from work manages to make a tower out of empty coffee creamers and gazes at it proudly for a few seconds.
I love seeing other people make the overblown OOPS I FORGOT SOMETHING performance for no-one that most of us do when we have to turn around in the middle of the pavement.
I love seeing stony-faced people in queues unable to contain a smile when a baby looking over its motherās shoulder in front of them locks eyes and does that astonished stare.
- when someone is standing in line and they donāt quite dance to the music playing, but you can SEE their head bop and them mouthing the words
- when someone thinks no oneās paying attention and they sing-talk themselves thru a task
- when they laugh or try to hide a laugh when looking at their phone
- when someone does the thing where they enter another space (such as a supermarket aisle) striding with total purpose, then suddenly forget what theyāre doing/looking for, and stop there looking blank for a millisecond while they reboot.Ā
- when people are looking for scissors, in their home or in a store, and they make the scissors gesture with their non-dominant hand as an aid to remind them what theyāre doing.
- when automatic social interactions glitch, like when you tell a waiter that you hope he enjoys his food too, or tell the stranger on the phone that you love them.Ā
- the hand gesture people make when theyāre thinking at their computer, not typing, and their elbow rests on the table, and they feel the edge of their fingernail with their thumb. This is such a lovely little gesture and to my knowledge I have never seen it in fiction. Youād think it would come up all the time in fic.
- when youāre sharing an experience with a complete stranger (like watching a seagull throw up in public, or waiting for a late train) and you make eye contact, and some comment to each other, and then you guys are, like, ALLIES now. Like you would willingly ride to war to save them. You canāt make eye contact again, but you are very aware of them.Ā
- just evidence of other peopleās rich, baffling and complex inner lives.
i love watching couples or friends walking in tandem. i love seeing when they make each other laugh
This is what Hozier means when he says āI fall in love just a little bit everyday with someone new.ā
Tipping the Velvet 20th Anniversary ā³ If I were to write Tipping now, what, I wonder, would I change? Well, Iād tidy it up, for starters. Iād give Nancy that kick, make her less selfish and ungenerous. I might be kinder to the ghastly older ladies of Dinaās salon. I wouldnāt wheel in a black character, Bill, simply to have him be part of the white protagonistās moral education. And I think Iād pay more attention to Nancyās first love, Kitty. Poor Kitty: she starts off as Vesta Tilley in a shaft of rosy limelight, and ends up as a Victorian Wee Jimmy Krankie ā a casualty of the novelās 1990s take-no-prisoners out-and-proudness. But sheās a bit of a blank, and I find myself wondering now: whatās going on for Kitty? Where did she come from? What makes her tick? If I were ever to write a sequel to the novel, hers is the story I might tell. (Sarah Waters, London, 2018)
