Wondering how CupcakKe, a sex-positive rapper that began writing poems in church, came to be the sex-positive icon she is today? Elizabeth Eden Harris is a twenty-year-old rapper born in Chicago who got her nickname when she started writing poetry in church at fourteen. With songs like “Vagina,” “Cum Cake,” and “Deepthroat” – which actually broke the internet with over 20 million hits – CupcakKe is shifting how we talk about sex today and people are noticing.

But besides being bold and sexual, CupcakKe’s music calls attention to the sexual reproductive issues that plague our communities. CupcakKe recently released the album “S.T.D.” after her fans, or as she likes to call them, slurpers, demanded it on Twitter.

“S.T.D.” tells the story of CupcakKe’s childhood growing up in shelters and public housing. These experiences are ones that fans can relate to and that no one else in the music industry is talking about. Through songs and poetry, CupcakKe captivates and tells stories that provide empowering messages for her fans.

On Sunday, November 12, Planned Parenthood of New York City has the pleasure of welcoming the icon at Le Poisson Rouge for a concert benefitting our five health centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island. You can get your ticket for $25 here.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America is launching a week-long collaboration with OkCupid! This week, OkCupid will be sharing sexual health information and tips through their social media channels, and will be rolling out an in-app badge that enables people to find—and connect with—other members who support the organization and access to reproductive health and rights.

OkCupid is currently one of the most recognized dating websites and apps in the world. Using a high-tech algorithm, OkCupid connects people based on like beliefs and interests. Over 57,000,000 daters have used OkCupid since it was founded by in 2004, and today logins span 113 countries around the world. This collaboration stemmed from OkCupid surveying its members with the question "Should the government defund Planned Parenthood?" Over 82 percent of OkCupid members who answered the question responded with a NO, including 90 percent of millennial women.

Every member who answered NO to the question above will receive a “Pro Planned Parenthood” sticker on their profile for the week of the partnership that reads  “#IStandWithPP”.

At the end of the week, OkCupid will be giving its customers the opportunity to support Planned Parenthood by making gifts online at https://www.plannedparenthood.org.
