She was ‘girl as plot point’ - in a show that touts its complex characters. I find her one of the most disappointing aspects of DS9 so far… so much more could have been done with her.

All Leeta’s story lines involve Bashir or Rom.I guess it frustrates me that you’re frustrated at Ziyal in this scenario instead of being frustrated by the misogynistic writers who couldn’t think to give her her own story and just used her for mangst.

 lmao i AM frustrated at the writers / that's why i'm frustrated by the character??? Cause they wrote in the elements about her that disappoint me. Im not frustrated AT Ziyal cause that's kindaaaa impossible cause she is not a real person that exists like she IS only how she is written so being frustrated by her character is in essence being frustrated at the writers? cause she doesn't exist without them and that being said  i've at no point blamed her as an individual character for the 'sins' of her writers anyway?

I'm just expressing dismay that we never get to know her character as anything other than a male angst prop / fawning teen stereotype - cause she could be a really interesting character if she was written well

She’s not a mary sue she’s an undervalued underdeveloped female character as par for the 90’s T_T. In the very end of Indiscretion she says some really interesting things to Dukat who’s come to kill her, and she gets a cute one liner in now and then.
