Extremely Short answer not including nearly everything: ironic and cruel dovetailing with Loki’s own eventual redemption. Loki had his own self image tied up in being able to save Thori - if he could save Thori, by implication, he himself could be saved. Loki was not a bad dog. That (at near Loki’s lowest point) that seems to be proven untrue is narrative meaningful in a way which the double-beat of both being redeemed wouldn’t. Together, you get a different picture. You can try to save someone. Won’t necessarily work. Just because people can change doesn’t mean they will.

Most my work has that use of irony to it. I say two things at once, as I tend to think things are complicated. Easy answers are lies.

I need something to make my fingers start moving this afternoon, and finally getting around to this strikes me as a fun thing to do. It’s about a year since the end of JIM, so there’s a little distance on it. Also I’m off to the Thor premier this evening, so have my head in this whole space.
