I gotta draw this later, but I would genuinely love an AU where Robert’s a villain, and Flambae’s his husba— I mean!! His henchman!
Solely because? They genuinely ARE a powerful duo, sure, but the public loves them more than ACTUAL heroes.
Flambae? Can and will stop mid-fight just to talk to people HE saved while Robert handles a ‘hero’ , who put them in danger.
“Oh, your car won’t start? Yeah, been there. BOSS!” Yelling at the giant robot like they’ve been married 50 years. “GET YOUR ASS HERE AND HELP THESE PEOPLE! He’s so good at fixing shit.”
Mecha Man, who’s very much supposed to be in the middle of his monologue right now, tells the hero he’s fighting to wait.
“Look, you already torn his costume, and we had to cancel our dinner reservation. He’s already in a pissy mood. I’m not sleeping on the couch tonight.”
And this doesn’t exactly resemble what Robert pictured when he went ‘defective’, as the tabloids said.
He didn’t expect to save more people than both former Mecha Men combined.
He didn’t expect to pose for selfies while Flambae beams into the camera, holding his jaw gently, while Robert tries not to grin too hard. Because of course this sunstorm of a man would.
And when they successfully help people, because that’s what Flambae always wanted to do, at his very core, and his teeth flash when he smiles at Robert, saying,
“Sorry, boss. But you’re pretty great at the good guy thing.”
Robert doesn’t expect to believe it.
The problem is that he really, really does.
