Stock standard P-Hawk, the classic light mech bully

It's just not great, but you can't help but love the classics. Thankfully there's non-trash variants for each era, especially the Jihad era 3PL, 6/9/6 with an array of pulse lasers tied to a targeting computer is a nasty midranged skirmisher.

STG-3R Stinger

It's a medium laser with legs! And machine guns!

Base model, I think the Wasp is better, SRM-2 is just gonna be more helpful more often than 2 machine guns. But, the Stinger has a 2 Medium Laser variant, the 3G.

WVR-6R Wolverine

The Wolverine is one of those "platonic ideal" mediums with good movement, good shooty, good hitty, and good brackets, but I take issue with the AC/5 as the main gun choice.

WSP-1A Wasp

I took a bit of a hobby break, organized my MTG cards, played some games, but painting is back on the schedule

I love cheap shitty Battlemechs, the kind you're canonically supposed to be tripping over constantly. I do wish CGL would acknowledge availability, maybe give us some common cheap Lances of plastic bug mechs, P hawks, the 5/8 mediums, other staples

My lovely partner has been a big Animorphs fan since forever (I being scared off by episode 1 of the show, the nice alien getting eaten was too much for young me) so I printed n painted an Andalite for tabletop purposes

Had this bad boy for 2.5 editions now, finally got him assembled and painted

The checkers are getting less tedious and more enjoyable, which may be a worrying sign of my mental state /s

My Master Grade Gramps has been taunting me at 90% completion for weeks while I fuck around with Magic card and MechWarrior so I finally finished him last night

I didn't really grasp the height difference between this monster and a normal 1:144 HG or RG kit, the sheer mass of the panels had put me off for a while after I built him

It's a good kit, but the dedication to having removable core section for the fighter means the midsection is a little iffy, I'd have preferred a solid skeleton

I've been leaning a lot on oil washes recently and I quite liked the clone trooper recipes by Archer Hobbies written up on the Fifth Trooper, so I tried it out on a bog standard no marking shiny boy

Pretty simple, kinda chunky with the highlights but considering how easy it was I can't complain

I had to reference the art a lot to figure out what was going on, the little leather arm guards are kinda odd

One of the squad leaders for the Coftyran Quar faction, and another of the old metal sculpts. They're all still out there for sale by the original creators in case anyone didn't know

Thankfully the examples on their site are painted, and I wanted to stick as close as I could to source material, mainly for nostalgia reasons

Coftyran Cryfen LMG Rhyfler. It's quite nostalgic painting heavy metal minis again, which is largely why I'm doing "normal" bases instead of fancy 3d printed ones

When I was a teen, my folks took me to a wargaming convention and there was this booth for a smaller company called Zombiesmith. I loved the books and art for the Quar line, picked up some, the signed rulebooks, and sat on them for over a decade.
