Wrote a little thing for this one too, if you wanna read it 💜
Kaneeka visited earlier today. We didn't really have any plans besides catching up, sharing some of her mom's tea, and maybe watching a movie together. It was one of these rare days in which her brother agreed to manage the store for her, of course not without a bribe. Which was also probably her last resort, used after I messaged her about feeling well enough today and wanting to hang out. It's been a bit since I noticed it. Ever since we got in touch again, she's been worried about me. Not in the same way as the Doc, though. But she usually makes an effort to come by when I tell her. She's good at keeping me company when I need it, and she gets my mind off of things. I think she's not into guys like me. She likes her anime boys, sure, but I think I've never heard her talk about real people. But at one point, we were sitting on my bed, and she was painting my nails while she was telling me about things she learnt from vet school. Something about tissue similarities between humans and other animals. I was very concentrated on her precision. Painting nails is much more difficult than it seems, but she was doing a great job, and all while telling me about complex topics. She finished covering the last nail with a layer of glossy polish, and I lowered my hand while staring at the finished work, thinking that she was done. And then she gently grabbed me and kissed me on the forehead. I don't really know what I felt at that point. Something lifted off of me in that moment, and from then on I started shaking like a leaf. I don't even remember how I looked at her right after that. God, that's so embarrasing. But she looked at me with a smile. I think she complimented me, I don't know. Then she said she was finished and stood up from the bed to put the nail polish back into the bag she'd brought with her. The rest of the night went on as if nothing had happened. We watched a movie that had recently come out on DVD, and chatted through it as usual. When I said goodbye to her, I didn't mean to do it, but something in me made me reach out for her hands. And we stood there for a moment as I admired the matching colors in our nails. And when I looked up, the moonlight was shining on her soft skin, on the remaining lip gloss she had slightly smeared on my forehead, and on her beautiful eyes.
