Right, the title of drama is reply1988.. Only good things happened in 1988. Not 1989, 1994, or even 2015..

SO MAD.

Reply 1988 started out as one of the BEST dramas ever turns out as one of the WORST dramas I’ve ever watched. So bad I couldn’t even bear to watch the last ep. Sorry but not sorry to Taek-DukSun shippers. But their progress made no sense. Could NOT feel any tingling/butterflies feelings when watching their love progress at all. 

From beginning to the old version of DS and husband, that personality (even until now) screams Jung Hwan. Their little bickers, the way they talk, every small detail SCREAMS Jung Hwan. Then came the little hiatus that they altered the future husband’s personality to be more calm.. and even then, nothing says the introverted, a bit cutely air-headed Taek like it was shown in 1988-1994. The only sign of ‘Taek’ is he smokes. Taek doesn’t read weird manga/novels either, or it was ever indicated so in the past. Then BAM episode 18-19 happened. It was like WTFUCK? It was so nonsensical that I couldn’t even finish the series. Where is the consistency? At least in the future/present scenes of Reply 1997, and Reply 1994, there were ambiguity of who was really the husband, so the ending could be either way. But this… WTF is this shit?

Yes the most important is about how DS truly feels. But DS (Hyeri) ‘acts’ on her feelings as what the director told her to as well. IF the director wants her to end with Taek, of course her eyes would look at him differently than before.. and same with Jung-Hwan too. Heck, Chilbong was the latecomer that all things he did was to no avail bc Na Jeong’s heart already belonged to Trash Oppa. But Jung Hwan… he loved her first, cared for her first, even got her to like him first… the only thing NOT going his way was he could not get to confess first just because he values his friendship with Taek so much. Heck if Jung Hwan was the one that confessed about his love to the guys without knowing that Taek liked her too, he would have gotten more support and better chance instead of being the lonely heartbreak. This guy barely got his chance at all.

I have nothing against Taek. I, too, think that he’s freaking adorable. But him as the endgame made no sense. It was as if DS was told to fall in love with Taek towards the end.. just because… the director said so… -___-
