tumblr is the way it is because of cul de sacs and mcmansions and mega churches and suvs and not knowing your neighbors and driving 20 minutes to buy your groceries. it is the way it is because in these places there are weird kids who don’t play sports and don’t like the kids at school and can’t get their drivers license and need to socialize and this site has the promise of friends who don’t fit in just like them. but the only world they know has made them terrified of new things and unable to explore or challenge themselves. this is not a condemnation of these people (ok maybe it is a little bit) nor is it a defense it’s just an observation
