*crouches to go into stealth*
the cracking of my knees alerts the guards, I am immediately killed
characters who get the "i can fix him" urge not because theyre a saint who loves everyone inherently but because they think "if i can prove there's good in everyone, maybe i can start feeling like i'm worthy or being seen as good too."
unironically this is my understanding of how frodo sees gollum
Have a great day

Every adaptation of WH is wrong because no one but Emily Brontë has ever gotten close to this kind of comedy
Lockwood, Ch.1:
Lockwood, Ch.2:
I was 14 the first time I read Wuthering Heights and I remember finding this scene so weird. A thirteen-year-old behaving like a much younger child playing with a doll, and a twelve-year-old behaving like a baby. One thing we see over and over again in this book is children reared in violent homes recreating the violence they are being subjected to, or have been subjected to. And here we see Cathy recreating the excessive level of infantalisation she is being subjected to.
(And the infantalisation is easy to overlook, because next to the violence the other children in the book are treated with it looks benign. But, apart from being coddled and indulged to the degree that it damages her moral and social development, Cathy Linton is very heavily controlled and isolated! She has no friends or peers whatsoever and has never been more than a couple of miles from her house because her father wants to keep her near.)
Also, there are parallels with both Nelly and Hindley here. Hindley also behaves in an inappropriately childish way when a new younger child arrives at the house (crying over the destroyed violin) and then reproduces his father's treatment of him with said younger child. And Nelly is tasked with caring for the much younger Heathcliff - washing him, getting him clean clothes, etc. While Cathy cares for Linton by comforting him when he has been brought to a strange new place after the death of his mother. But she is also playacting at care by treating him like a baby who needs to be helped drink. Pretending to have responsibilities, while the thirteen-year-old Nelly had real ones. And this is a contrast with the end of the novel, where we see Cathy engaging in a useful and necessary act of service for someone else by teaching Hareton how to read.
Heathcliff is truly the best character in all of fiction, my man said he was gonna live for spite then one day he was like 'you know what spite's just not hitting anymore' and then he died. King.
From Hamlet by William Shakespeare
From Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
And both scenes are possibly about a desire for abortion.
Hamlet: “Rue”, the only one Ophelia has some for herself, was a famous abortifacient in that period. There is a theory that Ophelia is pregnant throughout the play, I don’t think this is impossible.
Wuthering Heights: Catherine is five months pregnant, has been starving herself, and is emptying her pillow of its feathers while reminiscing about dead baby birds. And the scene is clearly a reference to the Ophelia scene.
— Emily Brontë, Wuthering Heights

Hello yes, I'm going to be thinking about these characters till the day I die.
Heathcliff and Hareton my beloveds. No one has ever pseudo father-sonned quite like you. What do you mean he raised Hareton. What do you mean he was the only vaguely reliable adult for the majority of Hareton's life. What do you mean Heathcliff wished he was his son, but never could forget he was Hindley's. What do you mean Hareton was the only one to mourn Heathcliff, despite how awful he was. Why'd they'd put cocaine in this book.
