hottest language learning tip
write a diary
literally
just write a diary, it has helped me sooo much and i dare say it has been the most developing thing i’ve done while learning french, nothing else compares
1. you’re exposed to the language daily
2. you quickly see which words are missing from your vocabulary
3. you learn to write about the things you think about a lot
4. learning to actually think in your target language
5. having to look up words and when reading the entry back a couple of days later you can’t even remember which words you didn’t know
6. going back to the earlier entries and seeing all the mistakes and knowing how much better you’ve become
7. when you’ve been writing for a few months and your target language becomes a natural way for expressing yourself
8. when you’ve been writing for a few months and you start seeing the diary writing as a way of self-expression and stressrelief, and the language learning aspect becomes natural and secondary
9. filling out a whole book using only your target language and physically seeing how much you’ve accomplished
becoming an adult cheat sheet!!!

shitty advice of a college student. (part two)
(read part one here.)
sit where you’ll pay attention. sometimes this doesn’t necessarily mean sitting in the very front; personally, I like to sit more in the middle. it gives me a good view of my professor and at the same time makes me feel a lot less self-conscious.
not sure about shit? talk to your professor. email your professor. clarify things and show that you’re a student who cares about more than just showing up.
get to class on time!!!
when you email professors always say THANK YOU for their time and help! remember that they’re not required to put in extra time to help you; but the good ones just do. make these people love you!!! a good relationship could turn your B+ into an A- at the end of the semester.
reaching out to both your classmates and your professor when you’re absent is your responsibility.
please eat. and drink water. everyday. I mean it.
being a good student means that you will have shitty days. a lot of them. sometimes things go wrong, or you have more work than you can handle, or you end up getting a C on a quiz you thought you studied your ass off for. that’s okay. life happens. shit happens. let yourself feel shitty sometimes.
once again: let yourself feel shitty sometimes.
unless you want to die, don’t cram for your exams!! plan ahead. study a little bit every day so that the information is retained and you don’t have to study as much the night before. the process works. planning ahead will actually make you work less. trust me.
know that mistakes happen and life goes on. sometimes there’s just nothing you can do to change something. acknowledge that you’ve done everything you could, it was worth trying, and move on. mistakes happen so we can learn from them.Â
be realistic with your daily to-do list. if you spent all night studying your ass off for that mid-term and you know that you won’t have the mental energy to get a whole list of things done the next day, then they can wait! pace yourself and get done as much as you are capable of doing in one sitting.
you don’t have to look gorg going to class but if putting together daily looks and getting ur face beat gives you that motivation to go to school than you go girl!!!!
it does not matter if another student your age seems like they have it all together; because chances are, they don’t. no one does. we are all struggling to get shit done. we all have our own journeys. it is not a competition. no path is more valuable than another.
stress doesn’t mean you’re entitled to being an asshole. the people in your life probably know that you have a lot on your plate. they’re trying to live their lives as hard as you are. don’t be a dick about it.

24.10.17 // 9/100 Days of productivity - I spend a bad time last days cause I did really bad on the midterm I had last Friday and it really depressed me, so I haven’t been productive in the last few days because of that, but I have to keep going so yesterday I went to the library and got on track again!
Btw we recently reached 17k and we’re are doing a giveaway soon to thank you all, so stay tuned!
college study tips that actually help
put your phone on silent and put it across the room
listen to classical/soundtrack music without lyrics
make index cards for important vocab
wear pajamas
make diagrams and pictures. they don’t have to look pretty, as long as you understand it
make timelines for historical events
have a light snack
drink coffee or tea to keep you going
take a break every hour or so
have one pencil/black pen and one colored pen or highlighter. anything more will just distract you. the aesthetics aren’t important, your knowledge is
don’t be afraid to email/message your teacher or a classmate if you don’t understand something. the last thing you want to do is learn the incorrect information
know that sleep and health is more important than your grade. you cannot perform as well on a test if you are tired or sick. take care of yourself
it’s not a race. it’s not about who can learn something in the quickest time, it’s about learning
take a deep breathÂ
prioritize your homework by how long it will take you and when it’s due
plan some you time in between studying and school
if you’re mentally exhausted, set a timer for 30 minutes and take a nap. any longer and you’ll wake up even more tired
don’t understand something? that’s perfectly fine, don’t stress over it. ask for help rather than complaining
have a goal in mind and write them down. say things like “i am getting an education so i can get the job of my dreams. the life that i want. the happiness that i deserve”
be thankful. it is a privilege that you get to go to school and get an education.Â
you got this.

ways to study for exams that are actually productive
use actual note cards for vocab. yes, apps like quizlet are dandy when you’re on the go, but actually physically writing out each note card helps put the information into memory faster than typing them.
visual learner? make charts and diagrams. they don’t have to be pretty. the lines don’t have to be perfectly straight. it doesn’t have to be photogenic. but if it helps you learn, do it.
after you take notes (in class or at home/from your text book), write down possible quiz questions about the material on the next page while it’s still fresh in your mind. later on when you’re studying for the test, use these questions to gauge what specifics out of that chapter you need to work on the most.
start sooner rather than later. i know, you’ve heard this a million times from every teacher ever. but it’s legit. especially as you get into harder level classes and college courses because there is literally so much material that the tests cover that you simply can not accurately learn all of it over night. instead, start about 10 days in advance (but of coarse, the sooner the better).
studying doesn’t have to be a big giant study session that takes hours. if you start far enough in advance, study sessions can be around an hour, hell even 45 minutes is a good. if you go too long in one study session your brain will be fried and studying will be pointless because your brain won’t be processing any of it. that’s why it’s important to take breaks and not just cram for 5 hours the night before an exam.
actually study. hold yourself accountable and make your education a priority. if you have homework and studying to do, make it a priority over going partying or watching tv. there will be another party. you can dvr your show. you can’t take your test on a later day because you don’t feel ready. so be ready.
be careful with study groups. if you have a study group with all of your best friends, lets face it, you’re going to end up spending more time talking about harry styles and supernatural than actually studying. it’s better to have a study group with people who are your friends, but not best friends. and it’s better to keep it between 5-7 people so that everyone can be involved.
if the material is just super confusing and you can’t seem to understand it no matter how hard you study, it’s not you. it’s the way you were taught it. each teacher teaches a bit differently, and maybe their style of teaching just isn’t for you. if this happens, find a way that explains it the best for you. for example, if chemistry is just super confusing for you, try watching the Crash Course chemistry videos on youtube or have a friend explain it to you. this will give you a completely different perspective on the material and will help you understand it better.
at the end of the day, remember that everything will be okay. studying can be stressful, especially if it’s in a class that you struggle in. but i promise you that you are not the only one who struggles sometimes in school, it’s a part of being human. as long as you actually put in an effort and try your best, be proud of yourself. take a deep breath. and remember: you got this.

things i need to do in autumn
write poems. lots of them. try to create something that has never been created before. express yourself, in the craziest way possible.
drink hot cocoa. feel the warmth, and the sweetness, on the tip of your tongue.
read books. old ones, new ones. smell their scent. dive into their fantastic worlds. escape from reality. always have a stack of books that are to be read at home.
go to a flea market. try to find the most precious items to take home and treasure. you can always find something at a flea market, if you only look for it long enough.
take a nap with three blankets and even more pillows. take some time to relax, to shut off from all the stress for an hour or two.
wear the comfiest sweater in the world. wear it until you don’t feel it anymore, until it has become part of your body, like your skin.
go to the library. pick a book at random and start to read. discover new things you have never even thought about before. be curious.
spend some time outside the house. with friends, preferably. breathe in the fresh, brisk air, and enjoy life, for a while.
take pictures of autumnal dusk. enjoy the view, as if it is the last one you see this year. fall in love with the sky, over and over and over again.
i just watched people blame antifa, BLM and muslims for the mass shooting in las vegas but as soon as it turned out the shooter was white these people all got eerily quiet.
people who were screaming for justice minutes after the news came out, begging that “the threat” will be faced with a “final solution” suddenly keep quiet. why? to defend whiteness? because if a white man is labelled a terrorist, whiteness will be under attack the same way we condemn all muslims for the actions of a few? it’s dispicable.
this is the deadliest mass shooting in US history and you want to tell me the attacker is not a terrorist???
