Please, please, PLEASE let me into the Signal chat that JD and Usha Vance’s old Yale friends made to gossip about them
hahahahah
Every time I have steak, and it’s been a very long time, I always think about this scene in The Matrix, and how easily it would be for me to give up the world/preservation of all mankind for a perfectly seared steak.
I could never become vegan.
Also, probably something something “I am the mother of dragons” and how it makes me feel like the Khaleesi, after.
evergreen post
true in like 2014, probably even more true now

In my playwriting workshop, my friend said "if we didn't have poor communication, we wouldn't have interesting stories. We need poor communication." Which is a nice thing to remember as I'm trying to barrel through and unfortunately using my work AI to get things done ... at what cost etc
Titanic (1997) • Deleted scenes 'The Gymnasium'
Today I had to go to a workshop all about leadership and pride in your strengths which for me is a personal nightmare to speak about myself and also running on four hours of sleep and a bruised and battered self-confidence for like god knows how many years now
(I do work with a lot of bold and headstrong women and occasionally executives and while that is nice it is not my default, not in this economy, not on one cup of coffee)
but it did of course end up being affirming as one of the exercises were to remember ... a time in childhood you felt proud of yourself (cool to do at 2 pm on a weekday)?????
and I had this sudden flashback to when I did have to pull a boy off my friend in the playground and physically tell him to stop hurting my friend and bullying her and calling her names? 5th grade maybe?
Of course I got in trouble because all they saw was when I kicked this kid in the shins :)))) And got a lecture on how girls should not kick boys (disagree) but that is beside the point
Adult me is proud of 5th grade me going to fisticuffs lol. Other stuff happened to be proud of probably but .... !
I remember screaming. I remember being just over it and lunging at this kid, which is funny to think about now as I am pretty ... subdued and exhausted most of the time 24/7 lol. (Adulthood)
I do not like to see other people teased or hurt now, didn't then (although I would not kick people now unless they really deserved it).
Anyway we had to all tell each other these stories and my one coworker said that was pretty brave and I was like .... aw I didn't even think, maybe as a kid you just don't.
I didn't gaf as a kid — when it came to other people. I cared about my schoolwork and grades and friends and the usual, but I really could not handle it. I think I did this several times ... now that I think about it and thank you, job, for making me think about my childhood????
and now between this and it being approximately 10000000 degrees I need to lay down for a thousand years
slaughterhouse-five, kurt vonnegut
Every time I am panicking or stressing I think: It could be worse. It could be March of 2020. Or any month in 2021. Or April 2024.
I'm okay. I'm stressed and panicky but this is work overwhelm and not world and life overwhelm.

i am not immune to the City of Angels (1998) soundtrack
everyone remembers iris by the goo goo dolls and they're right to do so but this was unreal to me in 8th grade. this was my Evanescence
omg yes I have soooo many thoughts about this. "Uninvited" used to sound so sinister to me (much like Nicholas Cage's jumpscares in this movie that are to be romantic) .... but your girl wore this soundtrack OUT in 1999. I thought "Iris" was the best song ever made, the Peter Gabriel song was the saddest and best thing I'd ever heard, the Paula Cole song was fun!
I loved every other song but "Uninvited" until Brandi Carlile's version lol
no more details about my personal life at work sorry
everyone is getting this gif from now on:

I saw an ad for Oxford Pennant that said: "Sesame Street x Wilco: Why not?" so I clicked on it and I tell you, I burst into tears:
Doggust day 7 & 10: Otterhound, some little dogs I saw recently, and some sleeping dogs to celebrate the perseids this week.
