my advice to current year 10s, going into year 11:
hey! although i havenât yet received my results, let alone finished my gcses, i have some advice and some things that i wish that i had done earlier on in year 11 to make my gcse process go smoother- i will also do this sort of post for year 9s going into year 10! âââââââââââââââââ- - start early: make all of your resources, as early back as you can, so itâs easier for you further down the line - however, donât do what i did and attempt to memorise things in february: thereâs simply zero point- how are you going to remember all of that info over the next few months? - REVISE FOR YOUR MOCKS PLEASE - i didnât take my mocks seriously, i revised for some of them, but not enough, and i didnât even revise for most of them- for biology i only revised b3 whoops - my mock results werenât great, obviously, but it was still interesting to see that i managed to get a 7 in bio for only doing b3, and yet a 3 in RE for revising only one religion briefly - mocks are a great way to get used to being in the exam hall, which is what all your teachers will tell you; however, i think the main underlying purpose of mocks is to force students to prepare, that way, when it comes to around Feb when you start revising properly, you have some resources already - i honestly wish i revised for my mocks so much, itâs probably one of my biggest regrets tbh- if i took them seriously i would at least know where my weakness are - keep alllll papers that your school gives you: theyâre perfect for seeing where your problem areas are, and it saves you from printing more than you have to - easter half term is a literal blessing- please please please use it wisely - take a break day once in a while- the first day of easter half term, i spent the entire day watching netflix and ⌠chilling (shouldnât have put those two words together but oh well) i then spent an hour in the evening watching planning videos on youtube to help me plan my half term, which i did shortly after - this leads me onto the next thing- plan every day! i find that when i plan an entire week at once, i just never seem to follow it- i just make to do lists every morning, or the evening before, and tick each thing off as i do it- i make them very specific and occasionally include times- for example, i may have said i wanted to do 17 preplanned flashcards within 45 minutes - use your teachers: get anything you can off of them, and donât be afraid to ask questions and give them work to mark! - donât worry if âyouâre not stressed enoughâ, itâs normal, it happens, and itâs a good thing - let your motivation be the hilarious memes on twitter after each exam ;)
after my results, expect wayyy more advice and helpful tips :) be sure to leave me any questions in my ask box too!
(also iâm not back permanently lol i was just bored during one of my breaks)

Hey its me- Jasmine :)
I know, I know, Iâve been gone for a hot minute, but tbh I havenât had anything to post xD
Iâll try to fill you in⌠letâs see⌠I had prom, NCS, countless sixth form induction days, my 16th birthday, and almost never-ending summer shifts at work in between all of that!
Anyways, gcse results day is just around the corner, and I am quite worried, like most young people across the UK. I am doubting all of my answers, I have dreams in which I fail- I just canât get it out of my head. My stomach is literally churning just typing this.
But I want to change that, hence my brief return. I want to make myself feel better, as well as all of you. I encourage all of you to re-read this the night before results day, like I will too.
Now letâs get into some official statistics. For last yearâs maths exam, and for the November resits, the pass mark was 13-14%. Thatâs it. A lot of teachers are confident that they wonât raise the pass mark to higher than 20%, especially since it was lowered for the resits. I donât know about you, but that makes me feel pretty good about myself. Next up, the rest of the subjects- the new spec ones that we were forced to take, where even the teachers were confused. If last yearâs pass mark was so low for the new spec, surely our new subjects will be low too, if not even lower? The maths spec hadnât changed a whole lot, but the sciences? There is now a level content at gcse level- surely that deserves a low pass mark? We will be fine! :D
I know we hear this a lot, but your results really donât define you. You really donât want to be a walking exam certificate. You are so much more than your grades. You are a person. A living, breathing person that has done a lot for themselves; a person who has tried their hardest to reach their dreams; a person who hasnât given up; a person who is strong and confident; a person who will not let their results define their persona. Because you are a person. Youâve tried your best, and thatâs all that should really matter at the end of the day. Youâve put a lot into these exams. Think back to your revision sessions- it doesnât matter if you revised on the day of the exam (like I did for physics oops), or months before- itâs the effort and the thought that counts. You brought yourself to revise for yourself. You did it for you. No matter what your results are, be proud of you, and your efforts.
Iâm sure youâve aced your exams. We can all shove our good grades into Goveâs face to tell him that we can succeed, we can get through anything. Anyone that has any doubted you should be running to you apologising- they didnât realise how much potential you really had. We can do this guys- itâll all be fine.
Itâs just one piece of paper- it doesnât define youâyou define you.
I love you all, and I wish you luck for next week- not that you need it!
Lots of hugs,
-jasmine xxâ
We have year 10 gcse mocks coming up do you have any tips/advice? đ
ooo good luck! my year 10 mocks were absolutely rubbish, i never used to pay any attention whoops - don't stress it too much - try summarising each page of your textbook, sticking to the points in the specification - if you have a cgp guide, please don't use it by itself- i predominantly use mine for topics i don't understand in my main textbook - test yourself! this is very important- you can do this though one of the very limited past papers/ specimens (for maths it's fine to do the old spec ones, science maybe not so much), or you can use flashcards, or textbook questions- try teaching someone else information- at the moment, i come in for my gcses about 30mins before the exam, and i use this time to teach other stuff, because it genuinely helps me, and others which is a plus! - use quizlet if you prefer it over paper flashcards - make sure you actually revise, because you will regret it later- i wish i revised for my year 10 mocks, because then i'd have some material to revise from now from the earlier topics- for exams with 6 markers/ long markers, like biology and re, spend some time planning out answers to possibly questions that could come up- from each page of your textbook, think of a possible 6 marker, and also an answer! - use your year 10 mocks to explore different revision methods, try out mindmaps and flashcards and other methods- this will be your last chance to figure out how you really revise best in time for exams- finally, keep the papers after you do them- they'll be useful later on! hope this helped- any other questions let me know :)--any other queries or any other questions in general (school, about me, whatever you want lol), just hmu and leave an ask :D
Jasmineee ! I just saw you're back. I missed youuu and your awesome posts. Welcome back to my favorite studyblr evaaah đ *huuuugs*

Are British people actually really stiff and proper? And do you all talk like Emma Watson?
haha nope, and noooo đÂ
accents vary throughout the country i'd say, but i haven't personally met anyone with a voice like hersÂ
and we are stereotypically associated being stiff and proper but i havw clue where that came from lol the only people ik like that are probs my english teacher and my headteacher xD
