I donβt even care for HP. To me. Itβs sucks the creator is scum.
To be honest, it never grabbed me either. The characters never seemed like much fun and the plot was just bizarre and at times even uncomfortable, and that's coming from a Kingdom Hearts fan. I'm assuming a lot of the attention it gets is from the worldbuilding and concepts, the fantasy environment draws people in and you eventually end up getting attached to the protagonists as the world gets explored more and more.
I mean, I get it, it can be difficult to disconnect from an interest, especially cold turkey. But there are so many other pieces that have vast fantasy worlds and compelling lore. Zelda, Skyrim, Baldur's Gate, Dark Souls, Final Fantasy, Witcher... hell, Witcher has a book series behind it as well, if you're looking to recapture the literature side of the experience. Of course I'm not vouching for corporations or anything instead of JKR, but as far as I know none of these titles have had a scandal as big as her transphobic and transmisogynistic tirade.
On the topic of books, though, I used to work in a bookstore and I can tell you there are a lot of examples of fantasy literature series, which I can guarantee are better than Harry Potter. Just off the top of my head I can name Lord of The Rings, The Looking Glass Wars, the works of Sarah J. Maas, The Priory of The Orange Tree, The Folk of Air, The Return of the Earth Mother... there are a lot of options. It's not like Harry Potter is the only long-form fantasy book and movie series to ever exist. It's been getting more attention lately since the lazy reboot of the movie series, and honestly, that's just tragic. These people will eat up any slop that Rowling or her IP puts out.
