Oh, and Crystal likes girls yada yada blah blah blah….Seriously, however, I would suspect that Crystal is a lot more open about herself and her own feelings, including her bi or pan sexuality (I’ve seen theories on both, personally, I haven’t much of an opinion when it comes to labels) but still. Dating Charles to get her mind off of traumatic events seems likely of her, given that she uses a bit of an avoidance tactic. These traumatic events could be David, her parent’s lack of presence and affection, but most likely Niko’s death. That shit would obviously wreck her, and I believe she would begin to understand that the way she felt for Niko might not have been entirely just platonic, which is a terrible realization to have AFTER it’s no use.

This relates back to lavender marriage as a concept, that Charles would date a woman to hide his own sexuality and feelings for a man, although Crystal is more participating for the sake of her emotional wellbeing, and to cover up the bad stuff with something good (a valid mental health tactic). Either way, while not exactly a ‘lavender marriage’ in a miriam-webster sense, I find that the connections are still there, enough for me to want to write about it, I suppose.
