reading Anna Karenina right now, and Betsy just mentioned someone named Sappho Stolz.
I immediately had to look up if that's a real person, it's not, and I'm honestly marveling at Tolstoy.
Stolz is german for Pride. Sappho Pride. Y'all?
Tolstoy is my home ngl. He was vegetarian and invented anarchism and gave up his riches and titles to live like a peasant because it was the correct thing to do and had a crush on a boy and he wrote women well enough that I was surprised and now I have to see with my own eye orbs that he named someone Sappho Stolz?
Amazing.
