in new zealand, our evil government are trying to legislate definitions of women and men, in ways that are legally incoherent but clearly trying to pave the way for more horrifically transphobic legislation. we have an election in a few months but our main opposition party, and all our mainstream news media, are so spineless and cooked that there's a good chance the ghouls will win reelection.

it took 2 whole months for local terf group 'speak up for women' to get 2,000 signatures on the petition that led to this new bill in our parliament.

it's taken five days for this pro-trans 'they don't speak for us' petition to get 17,000 signatures.

this is a show of support that is really heartening for a lot of trans people in our corner of the world.

cis/ish women, if you're from here but haven't signed yet, please do. and if you're not from here and you know any new zealanders, could you send them this petition? a full fifth of our population lives overseas, and there's a good chance they don't follow the news.

i know folks are gonna call me a pedo for this one, but i grew up seeing my mom and grandma naked. they had health issues and at times needed care and help showering. and i truly think more kids need to be shown the nonsexual reality of naked women at a young age. there is nothing sexual about my grandmothers breasts, they were simply body parts. more women die of heart attacks because people are too afraid of breasts to do real chest compressions, because they are scared to touch their breasts. the sexualization of our bodies literally kills us. i need people to be more normal about naked bodies and i'm 100% serious.

#the thought of dying coz someone doesnt want to do cpr on me coz of my breasts terrifies me #also the fact that almost all cpr dummies are modeled after the male body = no breasts #when i was doingmy first aid course i dont think the topic wouldve come up hadnt a girl asked what if the person has on a bra #in which case youre supposed to just take it off #i would rather be bare chested for a while then literally die and i think thats a common opinion

as the new gender policy with USA hockey, I don't think the PWHL's going to be able to support a gender inclusive policy. From the president's executive bills, national organizations like USA hockey and USA darts, etc aren't allowed to let trans people compete in their preferred gender. Now I don't exactly know how this ties into the leagues (as they are privately funded, so I don't see the issue but its probably more complicated than that) but the women's rugby league (which was very supportive of trans women in the sport and pretty vocal about it) had to go back on their word and basically say we don't want to do this but we have to.

Do I think that the PWHL might open its doors to trans men/mascs? yes, the rugby league did this too.

Do I think that the PWHL will close it's doors to trans women entirely? unfortunately yes, or atleast for the time being until something is done about the executive order.

I wish we could all just play hockey in peace man, hockey is for all.

Also with these nation-wide sports organizations shutting their doors to trans people, it's honestly absurd. Trans men who were previously allowed to play in the mens team must now either play with the women or with a coed group. Infact, if they've been on testosterone, they can only play with a coed group. This is an issue because this barrs trans folks from advancing in hockey, as coed groups are uncommon as the skill group progresses.

And also, it means that women are no longer allowed to play in mens teams at all, even if their college/school/local league/where-ever they play only has a mens team. This could barr so many girls from playing hockey/other sports and pursuing it as a passion, which isn't great...
