Classical conditioningĀ (also known asĀ PavlovianĀ orĀ respondent conditioning) refers to aĀ learning procedure in which a biologically potentĀ stimulus is paired with a previously neutral stimulus. It also refers to the learning process that results from this pairing, through which the neutral stimulus comes to elicit a response (e.g. salivation) that is usually similar to the one elicited by the potent stimulus
Caline always loved to tell everyone how much she was proud of her students.
There were never common little mouse in her class, all her children were as outstanding as possible, reaching heights that others couldnāt even dream of. Her students won all competitions, worked with many celebrities and sincerely loved her.
Oh how much these children loved her!
She always received the best gifts, was constantly thanked, the best holidays were arranged for her and they constantly talked about her. Other teachers looked enviously at Bustier, but she only smiled back.
What she never said(and of which, of course, no one knew) was that she was most proud of herself.
Because all of this, every success of her students, every smile, gain was her merit. Caline spent years to figure out how exactly she can raise children as winners. To make matters worse, her university education and all these stupid trainings never helped her advance. Yes, her students were happier, but⦠They were ordinary. They were not something to be proud of, they could not be boasted of, receiving envious glances and they could not be called unique.
They were ordinary children of an ordinary teacher.
And Caline didnāt want to be ordinary.
But then she got to Francois Dupont and saw what exactly could and should be done.
Chloe was not your usual girl, her parents were incredible, mayor of Paris, Andre Bourgeois, and Queen of fashion Audrey, together they were more refined than the best wine, more expensive than the largest diamond, and with them Chloe herself was incredible. Everything around the little girl sparkled with gold, each person next to her was getting better, it seemed that even if she entered the puddle she would look as if she was walking along the red carpet.
She was a chance for Bustier to become unique.
It wasnāt difficult to take the girl to her class, Mr. Damocles was always worried only about profit and money, and helping the girl grow into an incredible person was even easier.
Chloe, who hadnāt seen any of her parents for years, looked at her with large wet eyes and, opening her mouth, listened and heeded to every word. She learned to behave correctly, to demand what is due to her status and to know that she better than anyone else. Looking at the affectionate Miss Bustier and confident Mr. Damocles, Chloe realized what exactly rules the world, WHO exactly rules the world.
When Caline first saw how a little girl hisses viciously at her father, proudly stamping her leg, she felt pride. And then, hearing the gratitude of Mr. Bourgeois, seeing soft smile of little Chloe, she realized that for the first time she had done everything right.
Now she knew how to raise children as winners.
No one noticed that day how Mrs. Mendeleev frowned at everything that was happening, knowing that she had no chance to confront the new teacher. Shrinking, the woman hurried to her students, trying to isolate them from all troubles, that gonna happen in the future.
Feeling for the very first time the taste of victory, Bustier was filled with energy, stroking other students with interest, like a predator prey.
She rummaged for months in tasteless dark coals to dig one diamond among them. She got her hands dirty, she waste her time, but got and got deeper until she found something perfect.
Her next unique was Max Kante.
He was the best student in the whole city, solve any problem for him was as easy as a pie. Clever beyond his years, he seemed a wise man who go to fools to solve their insignificant problems, and Caline couldnāt afford to miss this opportunity.
Max was well versed in science, but knew nothing at all about people and Bustier was about to fix it.
When she smiled sweetly at him, supporting and convincing him that he was better than others, the boy clapped his eyes in dismay, but nodded happily. Kante liked to be better, liked to understand that he couldnāt be mistaken, that others compared with him were mediocrity, and Caline gladly told him about it.
Fascinated by sweet speeches, Max transferred at first opportunity to her class, and with his arrival they began to win at every scientific contest, making Bustier smile pretty at every envious sigh she heard from other teachers.
The next one was Le Chien Kim.
Silly and slightly naive, by some miracle, he occupied record places at any olympiad, easily avoiding every opponent, perceiving everything as a game. It didnāt take Caline even a few weeks to make him realize that these were not any games, but competitions, and that he had to win.
Soon, she stood in front of other teachers, listening to Damocles praise her, and couldnāt stop smiling.
Because of this Bustier knew how to separate jewelry from fake, how to make someone shine even brighter against the dull background of others, she could easily tell which of her students was her pride, but she could never be prepared for the arrival of one Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
For some reason, the little and unprepossessing daughter of the bakers was louder and brighter than the others and this made the woman fall into a stupor. She didnāt bow her head before Chloe, easily competed in her mind with Max and without any hesitation could defeat Kim. The girl sewed wonderful costumes, incredibly drew, smiled confidently and shone brighter than she supposed to.
Marinette drew all the attention of others to herself and Caline did not like it. She earned this attention for years, she was worthy of it, and she will prove it.
Dupain-Cheng was the hardest.
She loudly scolded others at the slightest mistake, noticed any unfair privileges and never fell silent. Bustier didnāt take much time to realize that she was perfect for Chloe. Little Bourgeois often hid on other students, thereby attracting the conviction of Calineās colleagues, so it was much easier to close any problems in the classroom.
The first quarrel between Chloe and Marinette took only two days. For the subsequent revenge on the part of the Bourgeois was need only three more.
Caline remembered the anger of Sabina and Tom, remembered how they silently took Mari home after hearing that the mayorās daughter had attacked her and remembered how when she returned to school, Netty became incredibly quiet.
All the same outstanding, attracting attention to the Bustier with her successes, but ready for anything to avoid conflicts. The bluenette dutifully bowed her head in front of Chloe, quietly remained behind the others and brought treats from the family bakery every month.
Bustier was proud of her ideal class, because now she was an ideal teacher.
Soon, Caline realized that Marinette was the way out of every problem. Chloe angry too much? Let Marinette be in the same class with her every year. No costumes for the play? Let Marinette sew them, it will be absolutely free. No food for the holidays? Marinette can cook something, her parents are the best bakers in all Paris. Soon the whole school knew about that kind student that Mrs. Bustier had, and everyone began to recognize the woman.
Everything was wonderful, until in one year Alya Cesar, the daughter of one of the main cooks in the hotel of the Bourgeois family, transferred to their school.
It was only naturally that Caline wanted to see this resolute and fiery girl as her student. But she didnāt take into account exactly how her determination can affect her ideal class. Feeling the familiar courage, Marinette easily escaped from Bustierās control and it was practically impossible to stop her. All Calineās dreams fell apart like a house of cards under the skillful hands of a bluenette and woman could only watch.
There was no longer an Ā«amazing teacher BustierĀ», there was only Ā«the incredible MarinetteĀ», but Caline continued to smile, gritting her teeth to a gnash. She saw that this girl didnāt care about everyoneās delightful looks, Mari was worried only about her love, and Bustier sadly thought that all this attention to the one who didnāt even want it, was simply unfair.
«Marinette made points for Jagged Stone», «Marinette won the Gabriel Agreste hat contest», «Marinette sang with Clara Nightingale». No one else now asked Bustier about her successes, no one praised her anymore, no one else envied her.
And when Caline was ready to come to terms, Lila Rossi came to them.
The daughter of an Italian diplomat, a lovely beauty, an incredible liar, and one who was able to regain control of Bustier. When Lila first spoke, Caline knew that victory was in her hands. Yes, Rossi lied to attract attention, but only in the Bustier class, under her control. And that was enough. After all, everything else was wonderful. After all, Marinette was again what it should be ā quiet and invisible, but doing everything she was asked.
Caline was again an ideal teacher for her ideal class.
And when she received the news that it was her classroom representative who would communicate with Bruce Wayneās son, Caline knew that she finally got what she deserve.
But, Miss Bustier, I cannot do this. I have a lot of tasks, I almost do not have enough time for lunch and ⦠āThe schoolgirlās hesitant muttering was interrupted by the teacherās voice. She did not raise her voice, did not show anger and did not even frown, but her honey-sweet voice was better than any poison. it was the tone of the owner who taught the naughty dog āāto obey him, and Marinette bowed her head out of habit, not daring to even jerk, her whole body was shackled for a long time by the usual shame, and fear was seated in her head
It took her only a day to contact Marinette and tell her about her new responsibilities.
Ā«But, Miss Bustier, I canāt do this. I have a lot of tasks, I have almost no time for lunch andā¦Ā»
When the quiet and correct Marinette for the first time in a year tried to object again, Bustier felt a familiar anger. This silly girl will not prevent Caline from being unique. She deserved it.
The teacherās voice interrupted the girlās hesitant muttering.
Ā«Marinette, Iām disappointed. You must do this, you must set an example for others. It is your duty as a good person. Are you a good person, Marinette?Ā»
She didnāt raise her voice, didnāt show any anger, and didnāt even frown, but her honey-sweet timbre was better than any poison. It was the tone of the owner who taught the naughty dog āāto obey him, and Marinette out of habit bent her head, not daring to even jerk. Her whole body was shackled for a long time by the usual shame, and fear settled in her head.
«Of course, Mrs. Bustier», the girl whispered softly.
Everything was as it should be.
And while the happy teacher was packing in her class, Marinette looked fearfully at the open
And while Marinette, holding her tears, slowly trudged home, in the Metropolis Damian Wayne and Jonathan Kent, trying not to attract attention, quietly talked about whether it was worth chating with a student from France, not knowing that Lois and Clark with each of their attempts to find something about Paris is becoming more and more interested in it.
What do you think about this chapter guys? How do you like the picture? I tried to draw in the style of ML, I hope that came out. Do you have any ideas for paring? Who I should ship Mari with?
