Tbh remembering that a lot of people on the internet just say wild shit for likes/follows/attention (because to them & social media algorithms a dozen comments telling someone that they're wrong is the same as a dozen positive comments) because it keeps on consistently giving them attention explains a lot of behaviors from a lot of 'infamous' people. Like if you stopped giving them attention they would just stop posting entirely.
