Garrence fic idea I'll never write, pdh fluff fic. I suppose this is also a enemies to friends to maybe lovers(?).
Id say early freshman (9th) or sophomore (10th) year laurance is doing very good in his classes and on his tests. But he has ABUSMAL attendance. So both as a punishment and a chance to get back the points he lost to being absent his teachers agree he'll help tutor him. (They have hopes that since hes so bright and simply "misguided" that this will put him on the right path.)
Atp garroth and Laurence know each other and are basically mortal enemies. Laurence is the hot "bad boy" fresh meat who hangs out with gene and garroth is the prep good guy who's tall and grew into his looks early enough his (something) squeaky and stuttering voice is over looked. They're basically at odds. Laurence hates garroth for being a nepo baby bitch and garroth hates Laurence for his general delinquent behavior.
Onto the story.
Laurence has to tutor some "dumb ass fucker" who's failing 3 classes. Low and behold its none other then garroth ro'meave. Garroth is mortified, and Laurence can not believe his eyes. I imagine the furst conversation is laur poking fun and garroth trying to get up and leave. But Laurence tells him to sit his ass tf down and to crack the text book open.
Im sure Laurence spends the first while believing garroth is just a dumb jock who's failing because his daddy paid for him to for this far. Probably thinks hes not even trying.
But as the sessions go on laurence figures out pretty quickly that it's not that hes not trying. He retains information hes told very well, he just cant fucking read.
Garroth is squinting at the pages, holding them close to his face. Rereading the same words wrong over and over. He probably cries out of frustration several times. Spelling things wrong and backwards. It becomes apparent to Laurence garroth is either dyslexic or needs glasses like a mother fucker (its both).
Laurence takes way more care after that and reports to the teachers that garroth can't see shit (while they don't like his language) they put garroth closer to the board, and he does improve. Hell, even Laurence starts showing up to class more just to make sure garroth is getting the notes.
They hang out after class, in lunch, before you know it they're friends! Gene is pissy. Could do a little antagonist plot there.
I think the story would conclude with Laurence finally convincing garroth to go get his eyes fucking checked. "I dont care if your dad says you have 20/20 vision because you damn well dont. Go to the eye doctor!"
Garroth gets glasses.
It would be really cute if he was shell-shocked that laurence had an actually pretty face.
I'd do a 2nf fic in college following that where actually date. After I hit 20, it's hard to write teenagers falling in love lmao.
