My love for Kevin clashes with my love for Jean, and while I have a million excuses and reasons to give as to why Kevin left the Nest first chance he got, I also have a million excuses and reasons for Jean to hate him for it and it breaks my heart.
The thing is, I love how honest this story is. I think anyone with Kevin's background would have run away that night, especially when he knew he had Wymack. Was it an asshole and selfish thing to do? Maybe, yes. But it was realistic. He found an opening, he lost everything, he was left with that one thing he knew he had but he could never pursue, and he finally went for it. Many of us would love to take the high road and pretend that in that scenario, we wouldn't have acted the same way, but few of us would actually mean it.
But Jean never had the chance Kevin did. Maybe the resentment comes both from jealousy and from betrayal. I can't wait to find out with TSC. It's going to hurt like a bitch, because imagine how close they were to the point Kevin learned French for Jean, only for them to have a fall out, to not have each other's comfort anymore, and then to be separated further by circumstance.
