The soon to transition Mrs Nice Guy: No more Mr Nice Guy
Do it scared but please don't do it hungry. Please don't do it dehydrated. It's gonna make it so much scarier. Please.
irritating as fuck when people get mad at Black people existing in premodern historical fiction/fantasy media. like first of all, you're racist. and second of all, you are acting as though Black people didn't exist in premodern Europe which is simply false. especially when we're talking about the Mediterranean, like what the fuck do you people think is along the southern half of the Mediterranean Ocean?? everyone's on boats, there are GOING to be interactions with Black people in Northern Africa, and there are GOING to be Black people in Mediterranean Europe. stop being stupid. your imagined homogeneous white European past is not historical reality, get over it you massive losers
if you are a parent, or may become one, or you are otherwise likely to arrive in the situation of caring for a child while they eat, promise me this: if a child doesn't like a certain food or food group, you will ask them WHY. and specifically, you will pay attention to either confirming or ruling out "it makes my mouth itch" or "it makes my stomach hurt," both of which are medically important info that children may not provide unprompted. which i know because this PSA has been brought to you by "i spent my entire childhood and much of my early teens eating peas and lentils while wondering why everyone else liked the Violently Itchy Mouth Sensation so much, like were they a bunch of legume masochists or something, before i finally realized that Violently Itchy Mouth Sensation was in fact a sinister demon appearing only to me, and her true demonic name was: Legume Allergy"
THIS!
Please stop forcing your children to eat things they don't like. It's not safe. Not only could it be allergies, it is also a good way for them to develop an eating disorder.
Of course there is nuance to this, like you should try to get them to eat food other than chicken nuggets everyday, but also there's a reason they only like chicken nuggets and it's probably a texture issue.
And please please please do not force them to finish their plate before they leave the table or have desert. Teach them to read their body's cues for hungry/full and "I don't like this food because it makes my body feel weird". Also, try to teach them to read body signals for boredom snacking and teach them alternative forms of mental stimulation if you can. It's not inherently bad and is ok occasionally, but I have found it is key to living a healthier life and not snacking on chips all the time just because your brain needs stimulation.

alright, i'll be the one to say it. ao3 and tumblr becoming "mainstream" did so much damage to the community and the writers. i have seen loads of videos and posts about:
1. people hating on writers and fics. writing is something we do for free and for fun. if you stumble upon a fanfic that isn't necessarily your cup of tea or you just don't like, scroll. dont read it. literally leave their page. you don't know if this could be the author's first work that they're so excited about, you dont know if the language they're writing in isn't their first language, you dont know that the writer could be a literal teen and loads of other reasons. fanfictions don't HAVE to be perfect. you write what you want to write because we do it for fun and enjoyment and we want to share that to the world. seriously, what is the wrong with that?..
2. x reader consumers getting WAY too entitled. the number of tiktoks i've seen that say "i run a strict program when it comes to reading fanfics." girl you aint running shit. this is FAN FICTION you're reading. F A N F I C T I O N. there is no denying that most fanfiction writes are beyond talented but just because you read one fanfic that exceeds your expectations doesn't give you the right to talk down on others that don't. people have their own personal writing style, their way of doing things and you talking shit on that isn't right.
at the end of the day, we are all humans, reading and writing is what we do and what we're meant to do. and for you to talk shit about a person WRITING is so insane. we are humans. not some robots that you can tell what to do so you can consume it.
i've seen so so many authors take down their fanfics and losing all motivation to write because of a hate comment. DONT LIKE DONT READ‼️
and to every author reading this, this community values your work and your contribution. we love u and, please, never let anyone's negative words have an effect on you.
I’m very happy that my dad has a hobby that he loves but his hobby being restoring abandoned furniture and making furniture out of reclaimed wood means that we then have furniture projects kicking around and if you think that having too many knitting projects kicking around takes up a lot of space let me tell you about how large furniture is
hey did you know??? that if you stop stretching and maintaining mobility in your body then it goes away?? things get tight and you can't move the way that you used to??? and when you decide to try getting a stretch routine going that the first week fucking sucks because you keep going 'damn i used to be able to do this no problem' and then you have to switch gears and be kind to yourself and just focus on getting better from here instead of berating yourself for dropping the good habits in the first place??? and your body never stops aging so you gotta keep taking care of it and sometimes you gotta take care of it extra in certain areas because of things that happened when you were younger and it's boring and sometimes hurts but it's so necessary???
i am yelling this at myself right now i am going through An Experience (trying to get into a routine of body maintenance again for my physical and mental health)
oh, Sisyphus! i got you
Here's a comic I commissioned from Kay Ksy La. I wrote the script, and she did the art. This is a “missing scene” type story; I like to think this happened off-screen while Mulan was unconscious from her wound. I always thought Shang had feelings for Mulan even when she was Ping and was confused about it, so I wanted to get that across in his thoughts here. He's falling for her, but he doesn't understand why he feels so attracted to a “boy” because he believes he's straight.
(Also, please refrain from tired, lame jokes about the scene that follows after this and how Shang was supposedly “disappointed” or “devastated” to find out Mulan was female, which he was not. I really dislike those jokes because they make Shang horrifyingly evil. Thanks.)
I'm Korean, not Chinese, but I really loved Mulan as a kid and appreciated Mulan and Shang as positive examples of Asian female and male representation back when they were uncommon in American media. They have always been my favorite Disney couple because of how they complement each other: they are both Asian teenagers who want to make their fathers proud and to fit into their gender roles, but go about it in different ways (Mulan is a girl who starts off insecure and weak but grows strong, Shang is a boy who starts off confident and strong but grows vulnerable after his father's death). And they both fail to fit their gender roles, because that's not who they are. They are human beings, they are people who just have the very human desire for friendship and happiness and, of course, love. And they find it in each other.
So, this comic is extra special to me because of that, and I plan to commission a few more comics about Mulan and Shang, based on my ideas about what might have happened between them off-screen in the film (and what I would have liked to see). Stay tuned if you're interested!

Finally finished the new version of my "Why Mulan is the Most Misunderstood Disney Movie of All Time" video. I originally uploaded it a week ago, but it got copyright claimed by Disney, so I edited it and reuploaded it.

Commission for me by Ralph Sevelius, of my idea of what Mulan and Shang's wedding would look like. đź’–
Here are the WIP sketches for the first four pages of a short Mulan/Shang fan comic I commissioned from Kay Ksy La! It takes place while Mulan is unconscious from her injury. I wrote the script, and Kay is working on the art.
