Until it made a loud popping and clunking sound, accompanied with a horrible smell, and Seth swore a string of colorful curses as he glided onto the side of the road. He got out, went around to pop the hood, and immediately started coughing as a plume of black smoke came out. Seth backed up, covering his mouth with his arm and looking forlornly at his car, sitting there smoking and sizzling and half in the roadside ditch. 

“Perfect, just perfect,” he muttered. Seth ducked back inside to pull the keys out of the ignition and reach around back to grab his gym bag, the only thing in the car that he really cared about, just in case it exploded. He looked around, finding himself on a deserted street on the way back into town, no sign of a business or gas station anywhere nearby. Sighing, he flipped open his phone, scrolled through his contacts, and realized that he didn’t really have any friends out here yet. There was Roman, who was technically his boss and Seth didn’t know him well enough to call him for a rescue mission, and he was probably at work anyway. 

Seth was about to bite the bullet and try to scrounge up the money for a tow truck, when he scrolled to Dean’s name. He paused, his heart picking up pace a little. Dean was a mechanic, Riley had told him that, even if the grease under Dean’s nails was a giveaway. It was probably weird that he even had Dean’s number--he’d awkwardly asked Roman for it a few weeks ago and then stubbornly made no move besides staring at it sometimes. Would Dean come get him? Did he know him well enough to care that he was stranded? Would Seth even be able to get through a conversation with him that wasn’t about his nephew without panicking?

Letting out a long breath, Seth decided to just do it. His heart was pounding as he waiting for Dean to pick up, and he fidgeted by taking his hat off and fussing with the snaps with his free hand. He didn’t know why Dean had this effect on him--he barely knew the guy, but this stupid little crush he’d developed simply wouldn’t go away.
