Can you please link your Tim relationship timeline? Someone is telling me that Tim and Steph were always together and never broke up pre UL and I need to find the right issue numbers to show them how wrong they are.
I never actually finished my whole Tim relationship timeline chart (i’ll get to that some time but im not home rn) but I can give you the quick rundown:
They had a rough patch of her thinking he cheated on her (he didn’t) during the Brentwood era (around Robin #80-87, gets resolved when Bruce tells her his identity) which wasn’t a formal breakup but like… was definitely an ‘off’ bit.
Then they’re together fine after that for a while, until Steph sees Darla kiss Tim and decides to become Robin, she stops speaking to him again for a while (Robin #126 starts all that) and then they only speak once more over the phone (#127) before she dies.
Once she’s ‘dead’… obviously they’re not together anymore. Not a formal breakup but uh, that’s an end to a relationship.
When she comes back, Tim has moved on into dating Zo, and he and Steph don’t actually ever start formally dating again, they’re just in a weird ‘theres unresolved feelings but we’re not really together because of circumstance’ place, and when everything goes wrong at the end of Robin their fight on the rooftop (#182) definitely puts an end to the idea of them rekindling anything and serves as a note of finality. They remain not together the rest of the pre-reboot world. (In terms of things potentially after that but not necessarily ‘canon’, during Convergence: Batgirl it’s said that they’d gotten back together and broken up again before the book started but after the dome went up, and they get back together at the end)
During the Rebirth era when they had been back together, they also had a rough patch after Tim had come back from his ‘death’. Things get tense around Detective Comics #970 and she leaves him in #974. They reconcile at the very end of the run around #981, before leaving for YJ 2019 stuff to happen.
So like, did they have many super final moments of ‘I am breaking up with you, Tim/Steph’? Nah. But there were stops and starts in the relationship absolutely, they were not together continuously the whole time from Robin #56 in 1998 up until Batman: Urban Legends #4 in 2021 LMAO.
