summary: penelope takes you to meet her friends. you get along very nicely.
You flatten your skirt against your thighs, eyes raking over your bodyāyour breasts, your waist, your hipsāto be sure you look as good as possible.Ā
A yellow and black plaid pleated skirt stops at your mid-thighs, and fishnets cover the rest of your legs. Chains hang from your belt loops and a simple band tee is tucked underneath the belt cinched at your waist. Penelope painted your nails earlier today, and helped with your makeup, and cold metal dangles from your neck, resting against your chest.
You hook your finger in your keyring, stomping to the door in your platforms and making your way down the stairs from the top floor of your apartment building. Sitting in the driverās seat, you take a deep breath before turning the key in the ignition, queueing up the directions to the address that Penelope sent you.
Itās not that youāre nervous, but youāre somewhere along those lines. Only because youāve never met the people at this party, and youāve heard theyāre not easy to impress.
You arrive at a brick building with a large ā63ā on the front, printed in gold letters on the glass of the front door. You park in a spot near the entrance, stepping up and into the mailroom, where the buzzers are located. You press down on the button next to āReid,ā and wait for the loud noise that indicates the unlocking of the door in front of you.
The stairs are marble, but the railing is creaky, and the hallway smells like a mixture of a hardware store and excessive amounts of marijuana, which you can only assume is coming from your destination.
A single knock on the door, and it swings open to reveal your smiley, bubbly best friend. āY/N!ā
āHey.ā You grin, accepting her tight embrace.
āCome in! Let me introduce you to everyone.ā She takes your hand and closes the door behind you, putting her hand on your back as she guides you through the crowd.
You make small talk with her friends, decline a few drinks and a couple blunts, and finally meet the prettiest boy youāve ever seen. Spencer Reid.Ā

We donāt talk anymore, heaven knows. Except, of course, for when we meet in the Garden Of Earthly Delights beyond the willow tree, by the rotting abandoned saw mill, chasing the high of the first time weād visited. Itās no different, really, from me and my stupid pills.
I canāt forget you.
Youāre always right behind me, trailing my weary footsteps. Maybe the other way around. Weāre not people, you and I, weāre worthless pawns of fateāI couldnāt brush you off if I tried, because there seems to be something much more powerful than the both of us that effortlessly yanks us back together.
(Am I trying? God only knows.)
We meet in the Garden, struck blind by the Earthly Delights, forgetting once again about the fall from grace and the curses and the torment, and you embrace me.
(Itās just a field of grass, is it not?)
(Why canāt I ever see that?)
You lie down in the grass with me. Hold my head in your lap and brush your fingers through my knotted hair.
Have you not been sleeping? You ask me.
āIām sleeping fine.ā
You look exhausted.
āThis is how I always look,ā I sayāāyou must have just forgotten.ā
Forgotten my face, forgotten my eyes. Forgotten how sick I am, and how itās reflected on my face.
(Am I so easily forgotten?)
You tell me youāre sorry, and that I always look pretty, as if Iām so shallow.
As if being pretty is what I want from myself.
As if āprettyā is what I want from you.
You languidly place a veiny hand on my abdomen, and I notice how your fingers stretch effortlessly from my belly button to the middle of my ribcage.
It makes my skin crawl.
I wish I were as tall and broad and angry as you.
I donāt like being weak, and I donāt like lying here being dwarfed by your hands as you pluck clovers and string them through my hair.
I feel like such a woman. Iām something far dirtier than that.
We split a sleeve of skittles. You leave me the yellow ones, because you know theyāre my favorite, and I wonder if this is your apology.
I ask you whether weāre going to fuck. Why you brought me here.
Remember when we came hiking here? You ask me.
I suck the colored coating off of a yellow skittle, so that I wonāt have to remember that it was yellow as it sits in my stomach.
āNo,ā I lie. Of course I remember.
We came here, and we said that if we ever settled down like plain folks and had a babyā
āIām not settling anywhere with you, and weāre not going to have a baby. I would rather die. Are we going to fuck or not?ā
Can we just talk? You ask. Please? I missed you so bad.
Plead, almost.
You sound almost as pathetic as I feel.
I swallow my colorless skittle without chewing it, and it hurts my chest.
I have nothing to say to you and I tell you as much, and I leave the Garden in inexplicable tears, wondering how long itāll be before I crave you again.ā

i agree that everything thatās going on is so gross. but PLEASE tag your posts with tws. iāve seen so many posts about the situation with no tws in the tags.
I canāt believe I have to say this but please donāt. Stalk or bother real life gay people/couples because of a fictional ship. Itās absolutely not cute at all and 100% crosses the line from consuming fictional content into uncomfortable fetishization of mlm
oh oh oh fluff prompt: 1 for moreid but, like, Not established relationship š„ŗ
moreid + āI really want to kiss you right now.āĀ
Reid is beautiful in the evening, Derek decides.
Derek has no idea how he ended up here, sipping some fancy overpriced drink from a gourmet food truck and feeling out of place at this pseudo farmerās market art festival mash-up with a side of antiques.
Well. Thatās a lie.Ā
Reid had bribed him with a promise of good food and the knowledge that a seller of vintage Brough Superiors would be attending. The flash of his signature puppy dog eyes were an unnecessary, unconvincing attempt at persuasion that had absolutely no effect on Derekās decision.
The two of them walk past stalls, Reid talking excitedly of oil paints and bread and pointing out every novelty they pass; Derek watches him the whole time, marveling at the way the setting sun catches in his hair.
āBone black paint is a mix of carbon, calcium phosphate, and calcium carbonate made from bone or ivoryā Spencer says, talking a mile a minute. āItās actually quite common, Rembrandt used it in his initial wash-like sketches for his paintings and in his portrait of Phillips Lucasz used unmixed bone pigment to paint the darkest parts of the clothing.ā
Morgan switches his drink to his other hand in hopes of keeping it safe from Reidās gesticulating hands, letting the sounds of his ramblings of burnt bones crushed in paint wash over him. They round a corner and Spencerās
Derek has half a mind to tease Spencer for the way his eyes light up at the sight of a tent marketing antique and collectible books. Frankly, itās so annoyingly charming that Derek canāt decide if he wants to knock him upside the head or kiss him senseless.
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph when had he become such a sap?
Excitedly, Spencer shoves his wildly sugary drink (Salted caramel mocha? Really Reid?) into Derekās free hand and picks up a book twice the size of his head and thicker than Derekās forearm.
Spencerās long, spindly fingers ā punctuated by thick knuckles ā cradle the book like they were made to hold leather bound books weighted with the kind of words that would make an average personās head spin. Theyāre rough, well used hands; his calluses come from gripping a pen too hard for too long and thereās ink stains under his nails and a papercut on his thumb. Thereās a freckle on the top knuckle of his pointer finger that Derek canāt keep his eyes off of as Spencer traces the gold detailing on the cover with a fingertip before lifting his head to ask the seller something in Russian. The seller taps two different books in front of her and scurries off to the back of the stall to grab another, much older looking, book and hands it to Spencer.
The two of them continue their back and forth until Spencer counts out a wad of cash and finally stacks all four books in his arms and hefts them over to where Derek is waiting. The scabs maring the back of his hands from the woods they had to trek through for their last case stretch and crack under the weight.
āYou got enough books there, scout?ā
Spencer flicks the hair out of his eyes with a huff.Ā
āTheyāre the reason I wanted to come here. Svetlana said she wouldnāt get them in until this festival.āĀ
Spencer adjusts his hold on the books and opens his mouth again like heās about to go on another ramble about the history of earl grey tea or the Frauchiger-Renner Paradox and Derek doesnāt think his brain can handle that. āAw. And here I thought ya wanted to spend time with lilā ole me. Turns out youāve only got eyes for bookish Russian grannies.ā
Derek tosses his cup away and starts walking towards the tent promising fresh fruit. Maybe heāll get some of the hand dyed yarn to bride Penny into making him that blackberry pie again.
Thereās a pattering of footsteps as Spencer scurries to catch up with him. He steps in front of Derek, books and big eyes in tow, and looks up at him. The tilt of his head and the glint in his eyes giving him the distinct look of a confused puppy.
āI always like spending time with you Derek.ā
He says it softly as if itās the most obvious thing in the world, like he didnāt just stop Derekās mind in its tracks.
Derek wants to say something stupid like āI really want to kiss you right nowā or āI spent last night thinking about the way your pinky curls under the handle of your coffee mug whenever you take a sip.āĀ
Instead, he says, āI like spending time with you too.ā. It comes out softer than intended but he doesnāt care because Spencerās eyes get incredibly, beautifully bigger and he flushes so prettily that Derek wants to spend his time mapping out everything that makes him flush that way.
Spencer shakes his head again in an attempt to get the hair out of his eyes.Ā
Derek tucks the stray lock behind his ear, tracing the line of Spencerās jaw and deliberately trying not to think about the pink of Spencerās tongue as it peeks out to lick his lips.Ā
Both their phones ding simultaneously and Derek jerks away. Shit.Ā
āHotch?ā Spencer asks after Derek looks at his phone.Ā
Derek sighs.
āDuty calls, pretty boy.ā
send me a number and a ship for a mini fic!Ā [closed for this prompt list]
