Genuinely kind people have often been through a lot of horrible shit. They’re so kind because they understand that every person they talk to might be smack dab in the middle of some horrible shit.

I know this one way too well...

Well, damn... back before i had to buy all my own food and snacks, i always had to ask for food... and i WASNT adopted...

social anxiety is a terrifying thing... My boss once threw a christmas party in a local hotel’s open room, tree, fake presents, music, food, the works. I am both, extremely uncomfortable in social situations, and a very picky eater. Knowing i wouldnt like to be around other people, and i’d most likely sit around for a few hours, not eating, or socializing, i told my boss i’d rather not go, but thanked him for the generous offer. his response: “Oh nonsense, this isnt JUST a christmas party, it’s also a thank you for everyone working so hard, so you’ll be coming still right?”. Due to me also not being able to tell people no, especially when they ARE nice about it, i said sure... When the party came up, i dressed in my nicest formal attire, and, just sat around, not socializing, or eating... and now everyone, including my boss, makes fun of me for it... it sucks...
