The Snow & Sand zine is now accepting applications for Writers, Artists, Pitch-Hitters and Betas! Please read the relevant sections carefully before applying, and don’t hesitate to ask us questions.
Should you want to, you are welcome to apply for more than one role. Do be careful about not overwhelming yourself with work, however!
Applications will be open from May 4 to June 1.
We are looking for fics roughly between 500 and 2500 words. We are not currently putting a cap on the number of fics accepted, but we reserve the right to put a limit if we receive an unreasonable amount of Writer applications. We are, in any case, accepting at least 5-8 Writers to this project, not including Writers for the potential NSFW companion zine.
Fics will have to follow a few content guidelines, which will be repeated on the Writer Application form as well. They are as follow:
Fics for the main zine must be rated Teen or lower (as per AO3 ratings);
Fics rated Mature or Explicit will be included in the companion zine instead. This includes both sexual content and violent content;
Fics must focus on one or more character(s) from the The Mandalorian, his Son, and the Stormtrooper series;
Any spoiler from The Mandalorian or The Mandalorian, his Son, and the Stormtrooper may be featured in the fic;
Fics featured in the zine muct be either new works or works that haven’t been shared yet;
Please wait until your concept is approved before getting too far into the fic, in case some adjustment is needed (for example, if two contributors have ideas that are too similar).
If you are interested in writing a fic for this zine, we encourage you to apply! This is a fairly niche project and we want a wide variety of writing styles reflected in the final product.

We are looking for page artists (one page or two-page-spread pieces), comic artists (1-4 pages), and illustrators (to make small-ish pieces (1 page or smaller) to illustrate fics from zine Writers). We may put together some merch art later in the project, so do let us know in the form if that is something you’d be interested in working on. We are not currently putting a cap on the number of Artists accepted, but we reserve the right to put a limit if we receive an unreasonable amount of Artist applications. We are, in any case, accepting at least up to 15 Artists to this project, not including Artists for the potential NSFW companion zine.

Additionally, here are the general sizing requirements. More details will be given to the contributors after the application process.
One-page illustrations should be 8.75″x11.25″, with a 1/8″ bleed on all sides;
Two-pages-spread illustrations should be 17.25″x11.25″, with a 1/8″ bleed on all sides;
Digital pieces should be done at 300dpi and traditional pieces should be scanned at a minimum of 300dpi.

Pitch-Hitters & Betas Applications
Pitch-Hitters and Betas are a huge help during a zine project! You are welcome to sign up as both if you want to do so.
Pitch-Hitters are people who jump in to fill a spot when a contributor has to pull out mid-project. You can sign up to be a Pitch-Hitter even if you are already applying as a Writer or Artist. Apply as a Pitch-Hitter HERE!
Betas are people who contribute to the proofreading and editing of fics in the latter part of a zine project. You can sign up to be a Beta even if you are already applying as a Writer or Artist. Apply as a Beta HERE!
There is currently no deadline to apply as a Pitch-Hitter or Beta.
