Even if you dont take into consideration the things *gestures vaguely* () have done in the past, you shouldn't think that they are above any criticism.
Soyeon has a habit of taking a concept and incorporating every thing she comes across in the project that together it doesn't make sense, but you are so overwhelmed by everything that people think it is genius at the end, while as a whole it doesn't make much sense at all?
Like with Nxde, the chorus implies that because we were thinking of nude as without clothes, we would be disappointed as they are not naked and the audience is pervert and are booing her because she tricked them. Cool. But now if they are not nude in that sense, they should be in other right. Like in Yuqi's line - even if I look tacky or fall apart, or I'm not loved anymore, yes, I'm nude. But we get perfectly dressed i-dle dancing to the chorus. Like I'm quite sure none of us were expecting actual nudity, but there isn't even metaphorical baring of the clothes. They are just singing I'm nude, but there is nothing to back it up??
And in the post-chorus, they are singing, How do I look - I put on my beautiful self?? I am very confused by the contradictory message. Like were you supposed to look fallen apart, like you mentioned in the pre chorus?
Soyeon's rap overall has the same purpose as her first part where she is singing. The second verse doesn't add anything to the song?
But then she strips in one of the shots? Like? Why are you then giving in to the demands of people wanting to see you naked? It just cancels out the purpose of the song?
Then the biggest problem I have with the song is when she sings, Now I draw a luxury nude
But then after that there is nothing? What did you draw? There is no change in the video/lyrics/production? Where is the thing that you drew? (I know there's a painting there, but was that painting the purpose of the line which brings so much anticipation?) And then the song just ends?
People can feel that it speaks of a deep subject but like is anything being spoken at all? I don't think so. They are just saying I'm nude, but in what way? No one knows.
One of the promo videos was all of them speaking in their mother tongues, which I thought was a brilliant idea at the time (and also thought there would be incorporation of those language in the song, and that in true sense would them being vulnerable) but that didn't seem to happen. There's English there though.
Now I don't have any problem with Soyeon using grammatically incorrect English or dropping syllables. But the stans should be open to a little constructive criticism. Like she is not above any criticism and not everyone is hating on her.
