just saw the new Superman and yknow what I keep thinking about?.. when heâs fighting Luthorâs diversion in Metropolis, Clark is making every effort to isolate it to a relatively open space (the park). damages are at a minimum. but that takes time, itâs not efficient enough, so then the corporate-funded Justice Gang shows up - and oops, suddenly buildings are being swept off their foundations, civilians in direct line of fire, the city core is getting ripped apart. heâs scrambling to save children, squirrels, people caught in the red zone while the others are more interested in punching the big monster. the story makes it absolutely clear that corporations donât care about life or harm reduction, and in a world in which superheroes are already normalized, this kindness is what sets Superman apart
CAUSE I'M A PUNKROCKER YES I AM!
State colleges slowly became more and more expensive because Ronald Reagan listened to his "education adviser's" warning of how affordably higher education could lead to an "educated proletariat."
In 1970, Roger Freeman, who also worked for Nixon, revealed the rightâs motivation for coming decades of attacks on higher education.
In 1970, Ronald Reagan was running for reelection as governor of California.... In May 1970, Reagan had shut down all 28 UC and Cal State campuses in the midst of student protests against the Vietnam War and the U.S. bombing of Cambodia. On October 29, less than a week before the election, his education adviser Roger A. Freeman spoke at a press conference to defend him. Freemanâs remarks were reported the next day in the San Francisco Chronicle under the headline âProfessor Sees Peril in Education.â According to the Chronicle article, Freeman said, âWe are in danger of producing an educated proletariat. ⌠Thatâs dynamite! We have to be selective on who we allow [to go to college].â [emphasis added]

just my belated addition to the âbillionaires flying private jets to the superbowlâ discourse
Bonus âremote sketchbookâ entry from December (that I forgot to post here lol). The little pitch I included with my Kon-El / Supernova sketch led my brain to do the same for his ânephewâ Jon. Iâm of mixed feelings, as I like his development since being aged up and wouldnât want it undone, but skipping over his entire adolescence took away so many potential great stories. So the idea is getting kinda back to basics while retaining the spirit of his growth since he was aged up.
One more âremote sketchbookâ update! Drawn with dollar-store supplies and finished quickly in whatever moments can be found. Iâm back home now, but I couldnât draw the rest of the Young Justice âbig fourâ and leave Bart out! Messed up a few spots but these ainât about being pristine, so here it is.
Oh no, itâs another shot at a Tim Drake redesign. Redwing! As clever and resilient as Batman, but with a perspective, style, and methods unique among the Bat-Family. Tim Drake bounces back from too many hardships and comes into his own, confident and ready to make his mark as a high-tech fighting detective eager to shine a light on Gothamâs dark corners.
Oh hey, I forgot to post my other âremote sketchbookâ updates here. I was recently away from home for an important reason but brought a sketchbook and got the cheapest possible dollar-store art supplies, and this is what happened!
Just a little sketch and identity concept for forever fave Kon-El, aka Conner Kent, aka Superboy. Less a redesign than reworking the best parts of his looks into something familiar but new, cool and distinct (IMO).

Final(?) remote sketchbook update! I mostly finished this over a week ago, but it was a busy week. This time Iâm trying out a revamp for Cassie Sandsmark, aka Wonder Girl! The daughter of an archaeologist and a god of Olympus, Cassie is newly tasked with finding and reclaiming the Pantheonâs lost weapons and artifacts as the Wonder Seeker!
My wife found a cheap used magazine spinner rack, and we made and printed off some topper signs for a DIY comic display! This house is gradually morphing into a private comic shop.
Wow, the â90s really are back!
When you see the âMary Jane and Paulâ plotline is still happening.
(Very lovely art by Alba Glez w/ Elisabetta DâAmico & Craig Yeung and colours by Jim Campbell, from Amazing Spider-Man Vol 6 #31)
Thats just Prime
