One of the primary reasons I see people say that Nesta's story is over and that she's not getting a POV next book and that she's not going to be a main character is because Nessian's story is tied up in a little bow and there's no conflict between them to keep readers engaged. But this isn't true.
HOFAS, including the Ember BC, established lots of internal conflict within Nesta, both with her falling back into that pit of despair and with her struggling to take off the Mask. If Nesta's story was over and she was going to be downgraded to a side character, SJM would have established her as happy post-ACOSF when really she did the exact opposite.
The Ember BC gave us the Nessian conflict we needed for their relationship to be focused on in the next book (not the primary couple, mind you). Cassian's conflicting loyalty between Nesta and Rhysand was a major focus throughout ACOSF and that even extended into HOFAS, which, to me, means that this is going to be a major source of Nessian conflict in the next book for them to resolve. If they were both going to be downgraded to side characters and their relationship pushed to the side, then it would have been unnecessary for SJM to write a bonus chapter establishing conflict between Nessian.
SJM wrote a BC from a CC side character's perspective that focused exclusively on Nesta and Nessian. That wouldn't have happened if Nesta's story was over. That wouldn't have happened if Nesta wasn't getting a POV next book. That wouldn't have happened if Nesta wasn't going to be a main character next book.
