Broken Mind

Tomorrow is another big step for Broken Mind, as one of the team member will be presenting the game in Montreal at the Rialto theater!

The end is near. Tomorrow we will showcase our game at our school the CNAM-ENJMIN for our final presentation. Everything is in place, we hope the game will break some mind... Bad pun spotted, my apologies. 

Slowly getting there... We’re now a bit more than 1 week away from the presentation of our vertical slice and here is an example of how our levels look so far!

Broken Mind is a game with cubes. LOTS OF THEM! 

Here’s a small video of the recording in the studio and how our sound designer mixed it to get the effect we wanted in the game.

Let me introduce our game environment today: Tanwen’s inner world is an unreal place, made of memories but slowly disappearing. Neuron-like trees grow, slightly luminescent and some objects that really impacted her in a way or an other are scattered here and there. 

Hypochondriax: Emilie, Chloë, Amélia and Janie decided to do something quite different and more... How to say? Quirky. A concept art of the final game render. You can see here Tanwen, the main game character, evolving in the fog and chasing it in order to go forward.

One of our first concept art. Whenever the player activate a memory stone, the environment changes. Two memories will mix and new path will be found.

Tanwen will investigate her memory using a light that will dispel the fog around her. She will have to find out the different interactive elements inside her surroundings. Those interactive elements will be mainly stones that mix memories and change the environment and keys that move object in order to create new paths.
