The Odyssey but retold as a low-stakes modern adventure of one guy out with his girlfriend leaving the bar with his buddies to do just one (1) simple thing real quick, it'll take like 15 minutes tops, he'll be right back, but then some bullshit happens and the trip keeps getting more complicated as more bullshit keeps happening while he just tries to get back to the bar because he promised his girlfriend that he'd get back and he knows that she's still there because she told him she'd wait there.
And by the time he finally gets back it's almost 3 am and the bar is about to close while she's sitting there stone cold sober, surrounded by 5 drunk guys unsuccessfully trying to convince her to give up on waiting for him and go home with one of them instead. And the guy shows up to proceed to beat the shit out of them before explaining himself to her like hey sorry bullshit kept happening, my phone fell into a storm drain and my wallet got stolen when I was trying to find someone who'd borrow me a phone so I could call and
His girlfriend had been fending off the 5 drunk guys for most of the evening by explaining that even if she was going to ditch her boyfriend, she can't possibly leave without finishing her beer, which she is keeping perpetually full via careful sleight of hand where she's just pouring it back and forth into and out of the pitcher.
However the drunk guys are also drinking, and eventually she can't afford to buy another pitcher for the table so she can't keep up the ever-full beer glass trick. At this point she has to resort to setting up the pool trick shot that she's never seen anyone but her boyfriend pull off, and says she'll leave with whoever manages the shot first.
That buys her another hour or so and then, finally, her boyfriend makes it back. He looks like shit, hair down and just a mess, he's wearing an entirely different jacket that he got from an alley, and barely recognizableāespecially to 5 guys who've been drunk for hours now. He lurks for a minute, finds out what's going on, and proceeds to pull off the trick shot first try. Throws the jacket off, fixes his hair with a hair tie his girlfriend lends him, finally looks like himself again, and THEN beats the shit out of them with the pool cue.
yuh i was there, that's how it happened
yessssssssssssssssss
On the same wavelength :)
okay, i'm going to make a full post on my thoughts about young sherlock but for now i want to talk about moriarty and the fact he's irish.
Now, i know that the writers definitely didn't consider many of the implications here, but i need them to throw in some little things in season 2.
First of all, his family are dead and I'd really like to know why. Even if they don't have him explicitly tell anyone i think it should definitely be implied or at least affect how he looks at some things. Judging on the period, they were probably either killed by the famine, the lingering health issues from the famine, or from the many outbreaks of disease across Ireland that happened in the 1850/60s. We got Shou An backstory (sorry for spelling) and know what happened to her family, but i want to know about James'!
The second is something they have already kind of started weaving in that i just wanted to acknowledge. Moriarty is definitely catholic. I'm pretty sure in one of the episodes he crosses himself when they walk into a church, and i love how they slipped that in. That man grew up catholic with out a doubt (even if they had to keep that a secret) so it makes sense for it to impact little things like that.
Also, after he got kicked out of oxford i would have liked a mention of how hard it would be for him to get a job or lodgings or go to another university as an Irish person. I know this is a somewhat idealized version of the 1800s, but there would still be some amount of dislike for the Irish in England. I don't need them to turn him into a raging revolutionary or be cussing out the English at every opportunity. All I'm asking is for him to walk past a "no Irish need apply" sign and roll his eyes or have Sherlock say something particularly English and rich and ignorant to make Moriarty roll his eyes because Sherlock does NOT understand how he grew up.
i don't want it to be his whole personality, but they can't have an Irish character and not acknowledge any aspect of what it was like to be Irish in the 1800s

YOUNG SHERLOCK (2026) S01E01
I have a new hyperfixation and am about to make it everyoneās problem
"Sewing is a gateway drug to thinking through complex problems. It seems really simple; culturally, we make it women's work. Let me tell you: real sewing at any kind of level of proficiency is a bloody magic trick. Sewing, like mold making, involves mental frames that require one to think inside out and backwards. It requires one to work on an order of operations that is often taking into account the reverse. It's a really, really important skill, and if you learn how to sew, you're mostly on your way to carpentry and welding and sheet metal work. I'm not kidding: these are planar forms meeting under rules and conditions. And if you can make a sleeve work, I swear to God, you could build a house."

sorry boss can't come in today i was on my way to work and then a gentle spring breeze kissed my cheek and reminded me it is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in this broken world

Cynthia : yeah Elphaba is trying her hardest to do whatās right sheās fighting as hard as she can
Ariana : I think Glinda is suicidal
Guys, I'm getting low key obsessed thinking about the Dorothy plot happening in the background during Wicked: For Good, specifically just Fiyero's POV.
Like, Fiyero is already having a doozy of a day and then suddenly there is this small child that his ex sent off to see The Wizard, who he knows can't help, and she's just so sweet and she just wants to go home and seriously Glinda what's with giving the child Nessa's shoes?
But, okay, I guess since she has absolutely no parental supervision I should go with her and make sure she makes it to the Emerald City, right? Maybe I can steer her towards Elphaba and she can come up with something? Right, good plan. This is a plan.
Oh how can I talk? That's...a good question. I came to be this way yesterday? Nope. No memory at all. Only straw up here. Actually, you know what? That's why I'm going to see The Wizard. Yep. No other reason.
And Fiyero does his typical thing of trying to distract from the bad by making other people happy because he really doesn't want to traumatize this girl more than she already has been.
But, slight hiccup in the plan, they run across a Tin Man who is...fuck...that's totally Boq.
And of course Dorothy, sweet girl that she is, wants to help.
Fiyero is going into a panic hoping Boq doesn't recognize him.
Oh he looks familiar? Huh, that's strange, he was basically born yesterday. Nope, can't say I know you. Nothing but straw up here.
So his plan is now derailed because Boq does still believe in The Wizard and no way is Fiyero letting this guy anywhere near Elphaba. Maybe we can ditch him and what do you mean there is a Lion here too?
Anyway, my point is, if/when we get another Wicked movie, this is the midquel I want.
Keep it as much in line with the 1939 Wizard of Oz as possible without contradicting what we know happens in Wicked. Since this is a Wicked movie, in terms of order of priority of continuity Wicked takes precedent but otherwise defer to Wizard of Oz. Have Jonathan Bailey come back to sing "If I Only Had a Brain". And just keep it as much in this man's POV as you can.
(And small aside, if I had a farmhand back home that reminded me of Jonathan Bailey, then yeah, I'd miss him most off all too)
Actually, recent scholarship has cast doubt upon this. While it was once accepted that āthe Beatlesā were a single, coherent band, nowadays most historians agree they were more likely a loosely defined collection of musicians and writers with many internal disagreements between them. It was only in a much later period that the myth of a unified āBeatlesā (perhaps alluding to the Egyptian solar deity Khepri, in reference to the hymn āHere Comes the Sunā) was invented through the syncretic efforts of writers associated with the Pauline, Johannine, and Georgian schools of thought. Ringo was later included in this cast as a familiar comedic figure, common in the folklore of the era.Ā

saw a tweet mocking taylor for being āoldā and wearing princessy gowns⦠thinking abt how she is performing music written by her teenage self and honoring that time in her life⦠thinking about how she loved the fairytale aesthetic as a teen⦠thinking about how she started dating a much older man who mocked her for being immature⦠thinking about how her whole personal aesthetic and branding changed dramatically after that⦠thinking about how taylor swift has literally described relationships with older men as losing her girlhood⦠thinking abt how she is again and again mocked for trying to reclaim that⦠thinking about how women at thirty get called old and people don't recognize how insane that is⦠etc etc

MOON KNIGHT 1.01 ā¢Ā āThe Goldfish Problemā
The realest part of the Barbie Movie was when Barbie was like "okay but what if this hurts his feelings? what if this makes him sad? :(" after Ken stole her house, stole her car, and stole her agency, because as a woman you still have to second guess everything you do on the assessment of whether it might hurt a man's feelings.
And then that apprehension was proven right one million times over by the entire Conservative Internet Manosphere pissing and shitting and screaming themselves hoarse over Barbie daring to hurt a man's feelings.
