Step One: making the static line

If you want to skip this step, just download this line. It's 3000 x 30 on a 3000 x 40 canvas. Skip down to Step 2.

If you want a different thickness of line, start in canva or your art program of choice. I'll quickly walk you through how to do this in Canva.

To create your canvas, hit the plus button, select design, custom size.

By default I make my canvas 3000 x 40 for small lines like this. If you want a wider line feel free to change the 40 for a larger number.

It will automatically start your design on the templates page. Tap elements at the bottom and type in Line. Add shape.

By default the line will be very thin and off center. The color of the line doesn't matter. Change the thickness to your preference by tapping the line, and selecting Styles at the bottom. Change the Stroke weight to your preferred pixel size. It's important that this size be smaller than your canvas so there's transparent space on above and below the line.

To center the line, scroll the bottom buttons all the way to the right and tap position. Select advanced. Type 0 for Start X and 3000 for End X. This should automatically resize and center your line to fit your canvas.

Export as a png using the button in the top right of the app, make sure "transparent background" is checked.

Now we've got this png:

Step Two: Make it glitter (:

This part is simple, we're going to use a website @droideplane taught me about, LunaPics.

They have a glitterize tool here.

Upload your line. Select your options from the dropdowns, the color and speed are your preference, but make sure you switch the bottom option to "fill"

Apply. Now we have this line:

Note the size of the canvas is now 800 wide, this is fine for our purposes.

Step Three: Changing Colors

i want my gif line to be a nice teal color, which isn't an option on LunaPics.

To achieve this, we're going to use the absolute classic, ezgif.com's effects tool here. The easiest way to recolor is to use the saturation and tint feature with a hexcode. You can look up hex codes here.

First upload your sparkly gif line.

This will open up a long long page of lots of effect options, we really only need the handful at the top for this tutorial.

Drop the saturation to zero, this will remove the gold color.

Check the box next to tint to open its menu. Paste your hex code and turn the intensity up to 100.
