#100studytips THE FLASH CARD
Have you ever created flash-cards to study from? If you have, youâre a step ahead of most students. Flash-cards are an amazing study tool for all types of learners⌠visual, kinaesthetic and auditory learners, as they are so flexible and can be used for many study environments and situations. You can study on-the-go while in transport; make them creative and colourful with pictures and diagrams; and use them is discussions or presentations in group study environments. Here are some simple tips on using flash-cards as a study tool:
1. Create them regularly as you progress throughout the term as you cover new content in classes. Donât wait until a few days before the exam to actually create them.
2. On one side of the card write possible exam questions about a specific topic. Questions about a topic can be in many forms, so write a few options that could be in the exam. On the other side of the card, write the information that answers the question(s). You may need more than one card if there is a lot of information. Try not to cram too much on one card.
3. Use bullet points on the information side.
4. Only use one card for one specific topic or sub-topic.
5. Learn the information week-by-week as you create the cards from new information. By building your knowledge base of the subject as you progress throughout the term helps you understand the whole subject as a whole and how each bit of info relates to each other. This also ensures you donât cram just before the exam.
6. Set aside time in your planner to create the flash-cards, and other times to learn the information. Itâs easy to forget these two important tasks if itâs not in your âto-do-listâ.
7. Study your cards everywhere, as you go to and from school, sitting on the couch, just before bed.. or any time you have idle time.
8. Pretend youâre doing a presentation, and present the information to a study buddy or yourself in the mirror. It helps you construct proper sentences from the information.
9. Try to answer the questions youâve created on a separate piece of paper without looking at your flash-cards. This helps you create proper sentences with the information, which is what youâll have to do in the exam.
10. This is basic and Iâm sure everyone knows this, but Iâll add it at the end. Ask a friend or family to test you, by asking you the questions while you answer them verbally.
Good luck with those flash-cards.

My first written test is tomorrow and I feel like itâs either gonna be very easy or very difficult...
But studying with flash cards always makes me feel like Iâm quite well prepared. đŚ

Interesting fact these two are playing but they are using play behaviors of their own species so they dont really âmatch upâ!
Dog - is âbowingâ and using open mouth âbitesâ as forms of play
âPlay fight with me!â
Cat - is giving the little paw bats they use when playing with kittens
âCute kittens get booped!â
They are both trying to engage the other in a playful way but not understanding the others responce.
The dog is like âyou smack so no play? but not hard smack and no bad noise so not angry?â
The cat is like âwhy you jump around? open mouth but no chomp? no hiss so is okay?â
And then they sort of settle with a kind of communal grooming gesture they both understand!
Dog: no play? okay i lay⌠we calm now friend!
Cat: sad? no play? is ok i luv u weird kitten!

Just gonna put this out there for those of you who donât think whatâs happening in Sudan is seriously fucked up that a six year old girl, A. SIX. year. old. girl. was raped inside a place of worship on the night of eid. i donât care if this is something you donât want to hear, im going to make sure YOU hear it. The world is silent when it comes to issues happening in african countries. The U.S. has TOOLS that can aide whatâs going on. But they are choosing not to because they donât benefit from this country. Like if yâall canât spread awareness to this the way you do for Europeans/Americans who face less if not similar to what is taking place in Sudan then you genuinely need to evaluate on whether you truly believe everyone deserves human rights. Donât just look at this and say âI feel bad, thatâs really sadâ do wtf youâd want ppl to be doing for YOU if it was YOU in that situation!! Spread awareness! Donate to gofundmeâs that provide medical assistance- even if itâs just a dollar, that goes a LONG fucking way. Especially if more people cared enough to donate. At the very least PRAY for these people who are just as human as you are. All Iâm saying is there is a global massacre happening in Sudan that there is a huge LACK of global attention. The Sudan government is working hard to make sure nobody outside can know whatâs going on. If you have even the smallest amount of empathy for the very least that a six year old girl is being stripped of her innocence then please share this and bring awareness to whatâs happening.

Hey everyone! As you may know, Iâm now a second year med student in France. The first year of French (and Swiss, hey @anatomyandcappuccini) is known to be super selective and hard, like only 10%-15% pass the exams.Â
I had to develop a new set of habits and methods to be able to pass this year and thanks to that, I got to be the 61st student out of 2700 (only 370 passed this year). So here I am to give you the best tips I can get you from this experience!
Have an anchor, by that I mean, keep in mind this moment, this feeling youâll have once you succeed. That helped me sooo much when I was struggling or whenever I needed a little shot of motivation. For example, mine was the moment I would get in the hospital for the first time wearing my white coat. When this moment finally came this August, you have no idea how much I thanked my past self for working so hard and not giving up.
Donât keep a closed mind - One method may have worked in high school / last year but it may not work now. You need to adapt according to you, that specific subject, etcâŚFor the first months of my first year, I only worked alone and made tons of revising notes that turned out useless since all details had to be known, but I was stuck into thinking I couldnât change it since I had done this in high school and it helped me at the time. But this method only resulted in me feeling badly lonely and wasting so much time. I then learnt from my mistakes and I kept on changing study spots (library, my own desk, free classroomsâŚ) and studied with my friends more often. My revision notes were more useful and practical as I stopped trying to put my whole subject on it. For that, you need time to get to know yourself.
Go over your mistakes - This one is sooo important. If you failed, itâs okay, who hasnât? And I know itâs tempting to just throw your paper across the room. But, once youâve recovered from it, you need to see why and where you failed. This will help you see what you need to put a stress on next time you revise the subject and your brain will memorise it more rapidly, so that you wonât be wrong if the same question comes around.
Be your own best friend - Would you ever tell your best friend that they totally suck at something because they failed one thing? Would you ever tell your friend âyes you can go to sleep/ eat / to the bathroom, but only when youâre done with this chapterâ? No, never. So why do this to yourself? Your body knows you so if youâre hungry, eat, if youâre exhausted, go to sleep, if you want to pee, just go. Itâll take just a few minutes/hours and youâll feel better afterwards. Also, donât bring yourself down after one mistake, give yourself a break from the vicious circle, youâre human and making efforts to be better, itâs okay to have some failures along the way. So be kind to yourself :)
Have your own pace of sleep - Okay so, Iâve seen aaaaall over Tumblr advices telling to you to go to bed at 8pm and wake up at 4am. So letâs be realistic darlings, a very few people do this. Seven to eight hours of sleep are the average best for the majority, but some need more or less. And it depends on you, so once again you need to get to know yourself. I know that in the evening, my attention span is close to a fishâs so I knew it wasnât the time to get into a hard subject. Instead, I took quizzes online about the classes of the day to get that memory started, I revised repetitive chapters like organic chemistry⌠Knowing that, I knew I had to go to bed by 10 or 11 pm and would wake up at 6am because I loved revising things before my 8am classes. But itâs not the same for everyone. A friend of mine used to sleep during 2am-10am because he was super effective late at night and only had class in the afternoon. Another one loved working early in the morning and slept from 8pm to 4am. Depends on you ¯\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
Plan your free time - Last but not least, free time can sometimes make you feel guilty or like âoh no Iâm getting behind I should get to back to workâ. But letâs face it, youâre human, not some fancy robot, you need and deserve your free time. So plan a whole day or an afternoon (or whatever time you need) in your schedule. Like that, you know what you can and canât do during your studying time. Itâll motivate you to know that you have some fun plans scheduled just for you (Time with family and friends, a good bath, reading a good book or just watching Netflix) and youâll be less stressed. Not only will the activity release tension and stress from your body but you wonât have gotten behind on your schedule since this was planned
I give these tips to my students (as I am now a tutor) and hope they are useful and relevant for you! Let me know if these worked for you!
Good luck to all of you for this new year!
- Justine
good studyblr-related feelings
feeling really overwhelmed and behind, and then taking a day to get everything done and feeling on top of things again
completely understanding a concept
for me, turning something in on time feels really good, especially when executive dysfunction only lets that happen rarely
talking to someone and realizing youâre not the only one struggling with this or that problem
actually enjoying what youâre learning about and pursuing it further
having a clean study space with plants, a drink, and everything organized
going through a binder and having your whole system refreshed
getting a good score on something you worked hard on or that mattered to you
being able to have free time-consuming not as a form of procrastination before doing work, but after itâs done and you can actually relax
